Okay, got an Acer all-in-one with XP Service Pack 3. Don't laugh, it was a good deal and all we'll likely need...
Problems:
1) D-Link DSL200 modem won't install - the install wizard is gibberish and won't complete. D-Link say that there may not be a driver that supports SP3 for this modem, but surely I'd find that out later, not when the install wizard is mucking up?
EDIT: Apparently this modem just won't work with SP3. I can only have one or the other - a new modem with SP3, or downgrade to SP2 and see if that works. So, given that the modem is four years old perhaps someone can recommend a good cheap replacement?
2) Can't partition drives - followed all instructions in XP to do this, went to find unallocated space - but of course since the computer came pre-loaded it's all allocated to C drive. Any way to change this? I'd download a tool but see the problem with internet above...
Any help would be hugely, hugely appreciated. The new machine is nice, I just want it to work properly!
