Yep. Out of the candidates, you can only be certain that Katie and I have the experience and the ability to actually do the job (of course, I will do the job excellently). Katie's contributed both last year and this year, and I've contributed this year more than anyone else. As for the others...

T&A are claiming to have been contributing for three years and that they therefore know how Craccum works. It's true they've been contributing for three years, in that they wrote one article in '03, a few beer reviews in '04 and one publishable piece this year (and one unpublishable one). If they know how to run a magazine and if they have a "passion for student media", they didn't get these things from Craccum.

Rod & Todd have even less experience with Craccum than that, having written, to our knowledge, nothing at all. If you hadn't guessed from their flyers ("friggin' heck, yeah!" is actually pretty awesome, if you ask me), they're both Christians, from Greenlane Somethingorother Centre. Of course, they could well be perfectly capable of doing the job, and being Christian doesn't necessarily inhibit one's ability to be awesome - GAN man Chris Orsky is one of Craccum's most talented contributors, and he's Christian. But they don't appear to be putting much more effort into their campaign than they've put into contributing throughout the year.

If T&A look like any kind of concern next week, I may start concluding my lecture speaks with, "If you really must vote for someone other than me, vote for Katie."

Well, we'll see. Katie's pretty nice too, and she's been contributing for longer. I'm fairly certain she'll see it as unfair if I win. Meanwhile, I've been contributing far more and regularly this year than she has. Both of us "deserve" it, in one way or another.

So many people have offered and given their time and talent to my campaign that if I don't win, I'm going to have an array of people to apologise to. I am very optimistic about my chances, but failure is at least a possibility. I know I'm the best for the job, but then, I also knew that Conor was best for the presidential job. If enough people vote who are sucked in by flyers given out by girls in tight "vote Thomas and Anthony" T-shirts, the student body misses out on the best possible editor. So it goes.

Katie and I also have an agreement that whoever does win will contribute for the other next year.

Remember what happened with the Auckland mayoral elections a while back: the left was split between two similar candidates, so Banksie won. In this case, the 'sensible majority' could be split, and the 'douchebag minority' could win the election.

Roy & Todd didn't really make an impact.....at all, but what would you expect from Christian boys, the blonde one's cute though.
