Description: Ask away children!

Steveo - August 9, 2005 09:43 AM (GMT)
Go for it :ninja:

templar34 - August 9, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
The first question that a new visitor should EVER ask an official:

"Err...Umm... Which way to the....eeerrr... Y'know.... the ummm..... the naked ladies :naughty:?"

hotshotec - August 9, 2005 09:54 AM (GMT)
down boy down!

SheDevil - August 9, 2005 09:58 AM (GMT)
Awww, thanks guys, that's awesome, my own thread! Ummmm, naked ladies, a great site for you to check out, if your into that sort of thing, is SuicideGirls.com. Hot goth/punk/etc chicks posing nude. Very sultry and sexy! Otherwise....Craccum :P Not really AUSA related, but i've answered it just for you Tempy!

Zoot - August 9, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
I heart Suicide Girls.

Because you touch yourself at night.

It had to be said (Internet nostalgia).

Fez - August 9, 2005 10:30 AM (GMT)
lol Aquateen Hunger Force

ok

Who was the person passed out pictured in Craccum?

SheDevil - August 9, 2005 10:45 AM (GMT)
I don't know, apparently some random, that will be the last time that happens, i will not condone people spewing in Craccum and elaving it for the cleaners to deal with the next morning. Apparently Stian's to blame, so there may be a warning coming.

templar34 - August 9, 2005 10:51 AM (GMT)
...Go SheDevil.

So that whip's not just for decoration, huh?

/OT: I hate Fourier approximations tonight.

SheDevil - August 9, 2005 11:37 AM (GMT)
Oh yes, that whip is real and i put it to good use, it comes down hard.

Yeliah - August 9, 2005 11:47 AM (GMT)
Okay, second question of noob origin...

Like um...where is the er...room TBA?

SheDevil - August 9, 2005 11:55 AM (GMT)
:frustrated:

:hilarious:

You would not believe how many people actually ask the 'ask me' people that question. I mean c'mon, they were accepted into university for godsakes, they should at least be able to figure that one out!

Ok, i'm being a bit harsh, i suppose when your new, entering the big wide world of university you might be a tad daunted by the change in surroundings and the possibility of having to understand abbreviations and all.......but, really there is no excuse.

Ok and now, stop ripping the piss and actually ask decent AUSA related questions. Or not.......and feel free to ask me a question relating to yours truly, i will happily answer any questions you may ask of me :P ;)

templar34 - August 9, 2005 11:58 AM (GMT)

hahahahahahahahhahahahahaha

ummmmmm so, how do i get involved in the AUSA? What sort of things could I do that do not require copious(sp) amounts of attention..... i.e. I can still study and help out at the same time.

SheDevil - August 9, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
You can be a class rep, which only involves going to two meetings per semester. It depends what your into, what things you would want to help out with. All you have to do is figure out what avenue you might wish to take, wether it be Craccum, Welfare and Advocacy, running for an exec position, even really just going to shads and the Main Cafateria rather than Hello Food or Munchie Mart, that would be helping.

Saturated-self - August 9, 2005 11:51 PM (GMT)
two meeting per semester? that sounds easy enough. What are the meetings about and do i need to know anything before i go ?

Dr_Steve - August 10, 2005 01:09 AM (GMT)
okay so I understand that the $125 that used to go to AUSA under compulsary membership is now kept by the university. Obviously the $125 from students that are members should still be going to AUSA but isn't, so:

a) is AUSA campaigning for this to happen?

and

b ) has this been done vocally to the student body as well as the faculty? because I haven't heard about it if it is happening

Fuck, stupid computer! I just wrote a long reply and when i went to post it, it told me i had to sign in again, and bang, post lost! So here i go again!

The meetings entail the particular faculty meeting up, ie. arts, commerce, science etc, all the class reps from each level and the HOD's/lecturers/tutors/staff to discuss problems/ideas/suggestions and generally keep check of what students think. It is designed to make sure studetns get the most out of thier classes. It is well worth it. AUSA provides training at the start of each semester and it is run by the lovely James Clarke, food and nibbles provided(i believe!)

We have been trying to get the levy for years. It is all behind closed doors negotiating, nothing studetns would hear about. The university are c*nts. They have us by the balls. We have to get funding from them in order to provide services, events, to survive and under voluntary the university may not recognise us as an association as we do not have enough members and therefore not give us enough money to function properly. We get income from other places but not as much as we would like. It's a struggle for us. Because we have to rely on the university for money they can dictate to us what we do with it, what they can do with us, pretty much bend us over and f*ck us. If we had compulsory we would have more freedom to choose how we spend it which would mean better services, events, cheaper beer in shadows, better cafateria food, everything pretty much! We are held to ransom!

A minimum of two, or preferable 3 meetings a semester. And no nibbles. Just Chupa chups :P

Now in addition to what SheDevil said, its not as clear cut as that is it SheDevil?

Prices at the cafe and shadows arent under the control of AUSA anymore

Dr_Steve - August 10, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
well I would reccommend that you complaign a bit louder. there's nothing like a bit of public attention to make people do the right thing ;)

we need some sort of public campaign for this that goes beyond just informing the students on what is happening, prehaps taking advantage of election year?

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
I know. We are definatley looking at doing something next year i.e. going for compulsory but as i explained earlier it is hard when there is so much apathy around. It's very difficult to get students to care about anything!! So trying to explain to them the whole story, or even an abbreviated one, is a hard task indeed! But we're working on it :)

El Matador - August 10, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
Would a well-researched article in craccum help at all? Obviously you'd need to talk to Greg Lanton and the AUSA, etc, to find out just what sort of impact it would have, but seeing as we pay so much now, people might actually care where the money goes and where it COULD BE going.

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 02:56 AM (GMT)
I can certainly throw the idea about, or even ask/tell them to do it.

El Matador - August 10, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
The Anti-Apathy Issue!

Meh. You could outline what powers the AUSA has and why people should give a shit.

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Totally! It's finding the time and the words. In the past when the exec has done it they have never been able to find the right way of explaining it to students and thus come across as dickheads.

El Matador - August 10, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Meh. I'm sure the AUSA could tell someone what happens and someone could put it into appropriate media-speak.

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
I'm sure we could. When the time is right.

El Matador - August 10, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
ooo..when the time is right...the reckoning....(dramatic music)

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
You're a funny one Sloanie! :P

kiwi_hockey_guy - August 10, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
ok question 2 :

Why is the main cafeteria so expensive for the absoloute shit food they sell?

And why was there no reply to the letter in last weeks craccum about how their "10cent off special" was crap?

Class reps are losers. Every one of them.

You're a class rep aren't you Oob?? That's okay, we feel your pain, self-deprecating is always easier than having someone else shoot you down!

re-post my original question

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 06:39 AM (GMT)
Sorry Calvin, i didn't have time to respond, then i forgot!

Ummm, shit food, but expensive? Because of Voluntary. We have to make money to exist, so prices go up, it never used to be that expensive. And not all of it is shit!

I have not read the letter (nor the entire Craccum, been too busy!) but will ask the boys tommorrow.

kiwi_hockey_guy - August 10, 2005 06:45 AM (GMT)
not so much expensive, but expensive for what it is, and the way it is served.....

I wouldnt mind paying $.... for food of the nature the cafeteria food is, but it really pickles me off that almost everything is cold and saturated in oil and grease!

Ever seen "jamies school dinners" it was on channel one for a while.....

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
Nope. Ok so it's a quality issue? Tell me these sorts of things because I can pass them on to the relevant people.

kiwi_hockey_guy - August 10, 2005 06:54 AM (GMT)
Yeah its basically that most stuff is cold, or mildly luke-warm...... and the fact you pay $4.95 for chicken and chips and the chicken doesnt not resemble any part of a chicken in taste/texture/look. The fact it is still swimming in fat and grease, and that the chips are guaranteed(sp) to be cold...

Does the cafeteria have an ARC food rating?

SheDevil - August 10, 2005 06:56 AM (GMT)
Good question, I shall find out. I would assume it does, unless it is exempt from the normal rules or something. But if they do, they have to display it in a place where it is easily visible.

Fez - August 10, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)
The chicken and chip meal? Thats the only one at the cafe I can stomach, the "seafood" one is far worse.

Please dont stop the chicken and chip meal :(

I feel bad, I could be a classrep but because there is this annoyin bitch in my class that I know would bug me every five minutes if I was, I havnt bothered.

kiwi_hockey_guy - August 10, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
im not saying stop it.

It could be a lot better...... Have you had it lately fez? the chicken has gone down the gurgler.......
