If anyone knows the make/model of the car that Peter Sellers drives in The Party and where I can buy one, I would be greatly appreciative.

Ah if only. The best RWD manual I've driven this year is a Corolla hatchback in reverse. :(

You're telling me! :( I worship from afar when it comes to motorsport, but always had a particular thing for nostalgia/V8 drags, especially front-engined dragsters.
El Matador - July 18, 2005 04:46 AM (GMT)
Bah. I prefer my motorsport in more than a straight line.
My particular motor fetish is old single seaters and rally cars...

Pfffttt the Escudo?
The Escudo bores me. All it does is go up hills. Wow.
That car, that mighty Audi S1, mastered Pikes Peak (that above is Michelle Mouton at Pikes Peak) AND the WRC. It was the uber-rally car....the year that Group B was dropped, Audi engineers developed a 1000 HP engine...the car was undriveable. That car represents the fastest man can possibly go in a rally car. It gave the world 4WD on a touring car, and then coupled it with the sweetest engine and turbo system on the planet. There were only 5 drivers who tamed it, and it almost gave us a female world rally champion. It's a testament to the olden days, where people accepted fatalities as part of the spectacle.
The Escudo is just a hillclimb car. The only thing Suzuki on it is the badge. It gives the world nothing like the S1 did.
maniacnymph - July 20, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)
fuck thats a hideous car. looks like something from the dark side of the 80s.
Steveo - July 20, 2005 08:01 AM (GMT)
Its an amazing feat of engineering!
Dirty plug: If u need any performance shit talk to Paul @ www.nzperformance.co.nz good prices and great service ;)

You are probably correct about the AUDI, I like Audi's .
But consider this, This suzuki weighs 900Kgs and produces about 1000Hp. Thats massive considering its weight:power .
I dunno, i just like it more, probably coz i feel it would cost less as compared to Audi.

samf - July 20, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
IMHO, at least the Audi looks somewhat like the actual road car.
deprecated() - July 20, 2005 07:21 PM (GMT)
Ahem... keyword "rally" :hmm:
El Matador - July 20, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
Well the Audi has one thing that this one doesn't...a turning a radius. I dunno, the audi has a wicked sense of History. Look at the other cars that come from that era...
Pug 205 (won Pikes Peak in 1989 + 1990Lancia 037 (last of the RWD World Rally Cars)Lancia Delta S4 (First car to be Supercharged + Turbocharged)Ford RS200At the same time there were Opels and Porsches in on the act; Toyota couldn't sort their act out quickly enough but they did have a fairly powerful weapon in the Celica/Supra.
And about the pictures there of the escudo...the top one the original escudo, that was the most powerful; the second one was a less powerful engine but it was also a lot lighter.

Ahh mate.. these are the classics.
what ever happened to Toyota celica!!! Celica Vs Lancia wast "the" showdown.
El Matador - July 22, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
lol. The celica was really only present at the end of group B. The Lancia - Celica battles were more from 1987 - 1993. Impressive though to think that Juha Kankunnen and Carlos Sainz drove both, and Tommi Makinen cut his teeth in a Lancia.
