Savage is doin great at he moment, luv his moonshine song.
Where the heck does DaiHamo get those *chs*, oh thats right , its the same dancers from TV2 Game show, dammn whats it called now.... well its a bad copy of "the footy show" -- its got "that guy" in it.
Liked DaiHamo's first single "we goin ryde", very nice chics in the vid but his "to the floor" is kindda at the floor.
Scribe / P-money : you cant go wrong there.
But Savage is really setting the trend here. Keen to see what he does next.
If any1 else wanna bych around then drop yo 2cents at the bottom there.... B)
1) strictly my view, narrow or shallow - i dont care.

I can't stand hip hop but p money and scribe are good and I am impressed with fast crew's latest song, suburbia streets.
Other than that I would rather listen to a cat squeling, hip hop is horrible.

Yes,
Fast Crew is just like a squeling cat, sorry but they are just annoying.
I must say i liked their 1st single, even that got annoying after a while -and thats where it ends.

they also have bad personalities from what I have seen of them.

did you actually go to the bdo05?
liz_shaw - March 28, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
No, I wanted to but none of my friends wanted to.
I don't even know why I joined the BDO forum.

Ok Ill add my 2 cents
Thou not a traditional Hip Hop fan I do have some Hip Hop CDs in my collection.
Savage: Yes very impressed with him, think he has done the best out of the Deceptikonz solo projects, really dont like "Swing!" though, I do love Moonshine and very impressed he did the video in NY.
P-Money: The grand-daddy of the NZ hip hop resurgence, I liked Big Things, but the jurys out on Magic City
Scribe: I think Im all scribed out, he has been literally shoved down our throats and I dont think I can take much more of him.
Fast-Crew: I liked their earlier stuff before they were signed, when they came out with their album I hated it, its watered down and shit, nothing like their roots, Streets of Suburbia is the only song remotely like their roots, but theyre pretty much cashing in on the latest NZ Hip Hop craze.
Conpsy: Like his stuff, hope he doesnt get overhyped like Scribe.
Dei-hamo: Cant stand him really
King Kapisi: His is the only NZ Hip Hop CD I own that Im proud to own, Savage Thoughts is brilliant I highly suggest anyone who doesnt have it to go get, but since then hes gone all "gangsta" and I "own you" and its really turned me off.
Misfits of Science: Really liked their in your face lyrics and videos, so much so I bought their album, which turned out to be nothing like their singles, its ok, but def not worth the $24 I paid for it.
Feelstyle: Not much to say on this guy except good on him for rappin in Samoan.

Misfits of Science : I like them but thier album -- its very very fast music. Not something you can dance to or thump in your ryde.
Some of the songs are very good, they have agressive lyrics - thats cool..but their beats are too dammn fast and "in your face". An excellent effort though.
Definately bettter than fast-crew.

NZ hip hop sit the fuck down. I'm not a major fan of hip hop in general but I know that the NZ stuff is especially crap with nothing new or exciting to offer

NZ hip hop is terrible, but while over at the gold coast they were bumpin' scribe and da homo and the woman were going crazy. If scribe knew what was good for him he should rock into a club in australia.

I find it increasingly hard to believe people consider Hip hop to be music.
Dr_Steve - April 13, 2005 11:21 AM (GMT)
I think Rap/Hip-Hop is caipable of so much more than what we've been hearing. I think there's a real potential with the lyrics, but most of its wasted with tales of their hoes and pimpmobiles. And where's the musical invention?
I've never really heard an artist that was willing to experiment enough. It could still happen though, I mean it took Rock and Roll a good 10 years after Elvis started it before it became good. We might just have to wait a little longer though - todays music industry is much more comercial than it was then.

It seems the best of rap has come and gone. NZ acts are sad. Apart from past efforts by Teremoana Rapley and Trinity Roots, I have heard absolutely nothing original or innovative [well, there was a track done in Samoan but the novelty got killed by the shitty...well, shitty everything].
It's all just one big race to sell-out. The way these cocks imitate everything from clothes down to the accent makes me cringe. [US Hip Hop has been absolutely shit this past decade too].
Dr Steve, there are plenty of great lyricists amongst the MCs - just none in the commercial circle. Hip Hop only really took off here recently so past albums with real content were pretty much underground. They came and went without being noticed.
Dr_Steve - April 13, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
its a pity people can't be good and popular
Jaded Mandarin - April 13, 2005 12:50 PM (GMT)
Well, as long as they're in it for the music and they love what they do, it's gravy. [I have enough old stuff to keep me satisfied so I'm not harping for new acts].
