Title: Ask Liz Shaw
Description: need some female advice, come here

liz_shaw - March 25, 2005 02:13 AM (GMT)
ask away.

dragonorchid - March 25, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
hehe, then I'll ask you too:

We pay course materials fees, but all our handouts and assignments are placed on cecil so that we have to spend more money to print them out. Why do we have course materials fees? and why havent they decreased since we dont' get things printed/photocopied and handed out to us in classes any more?

liz_shaw - March 25, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
The lecturers would argue that they are doing us a favour by placing course materials on cecil as it enables us the opportunity to receive our coursework etc without going to lectures.

I can only imagine that the price of the raw materials (paper, ink) is inflating over time and the university must charge us.

If they didn't charge us in this way it is probable our university fees would increase and that would result in an uprising of students.

Also usually I will just download the handouts to my computer and not print them out because then that results in me having copius amounts of paper to deal with, which I hate.

So yep, is that answer sufficient.

I have a question too; why is it that whenever I am home people decide to cut their hedges or something like mowing the lawns. It really annoys the hell out of me, they should just pay someone to do it during working hours, preferrebly on Monday when I am very busy at university and am not home at all to endure the noise.
THere are just certain sounds tht I really really hate. I reckon they do it just to annoy me.

But that's the whole point, they haven't printed it out or photocopied it for us, so why do we still pay a course materials fee? We are effectively paying twice, if we decide to print it out, and we should have a right to print it out at least once free because we have already paid a course materials fee.

Hedge cutting was invented to annoy Liz when she is at home - that is why it always happens to you when you are home. :D - haha , don't you just love round about answers!

liz_shaw - March 25, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
Then in that case I suggest talking to either your head of department in education or AUSA president Greg Langton.

I think this is a case of the university trying to get as much money out of us as they possibly can. I mean they even take a building levy from us yet there are several buildings that we never use.

Good idea, I might just ask him one day...

dragonorchid - March 25, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
Why can i never find a craccum magazine on campus in those blue boxes?

liz_shaw - March 25, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
because I've got them all jahahahahhahahahhahahaha lol :P

nah the most probable reason is that you either go to get it on Monday morning before 11am in which case they have not yet been put out, you get them on Wednesday in which case they are gone or you can't get them because you are looking in the wrong blue boxes.

The best place to get a Craccum from would be in the quad near the ECM shop.

the oob - March 25, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)

liz_shaw - March 30, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Well taht depends on the question you are asking, are you asking why are you in this forum or why you are here on earth?

As for the aliens, yes there are aliens, one is behind you carrying out research on your brain.

yams - April 2, 2005 01:29 AM (GMT)

Aaron_von_Cock - April 2, 2005 01:44 AM (GMT)
Do you want to go out for some dinner and dancing? I have a car

Fez - April 2, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)

"I have a car and an illegal MP3 library"

Aaron_von_Cock - April 2, 2005 02:48 AM (GMT)
I thought girls thought cars were sexy. Dammit I'm desperate here! :shrugs:

Aaron_von_Cock - April 2, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
Besides, it's a late model Integra with tinted windows and mags. Cool, eh?

liz_shaw - April 2, 2005 04:26 AM (GMT)
Yams this forum takes up so much of your time and so much of eveyrone else's time because you are keen to see what I have to say on a topic.
No its because forums are addictive and this one especially addictive.

Aaron_Von_Cock, what year is your car? would you pay for dinner? are you good loocking? If the answer is yes to the last two questions then yes is my answer.

liz_shaw - April 2, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)

kiwi_hockey_guy - April 2, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)

I also enjoy intelectual conversations................

Sarey - April 2, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)

liz_shaw - April 2, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
yeah I caught the drift but at university spelling should be better than it is.

Happy Ahmed - April 2, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
Why do I find you so dull?

liz_shaw - April 2, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
because typically speaking I only talk about either politics or the media because they are my main interests. You are not interested in those areas of life.

I am interesting and more laid back, believe me, just not when discussing politics or the media.

Happy Ahmed - April 3, 2005 12:18 AM (GMT)
I thought I didn't talk about much else, aside from politics and the media.

Oh wait, that was poo and wanking. Nevermind.

Did the pope really die on April 1st but they didn't tell anyone until the 2nd so it wouldn't be ironic anymore?

I lied about my car. I have a growth on my back and calluses on my palms. I'm also a student so I can't pay for meals. Will you still see me? We could drink wine out of a paper bag underneath Grafton Bridge...

Alec is that you?

Aaron_von_Cock - April 3, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
No

Aaron_von_Cock - April 3, 2005 04:29 AM (GMT)
Also, why is it that I have 8 tests/assignments due in the next two weeks and I haven't started any of them?

liz_shaw - April 3, 2005 11:23 AM (GMT)
Aaron you haven't started your assignments yet because you have poor managemet skills, a condition many people suffer from.

Aaron Van Cock, no sorry, I have a big crush on a guy at work and was flirting back and forth with him all day, sorry things change.

Happy ahmed, you find me boring because you haven't met me.

Yes the pope did die on april the first and no it was not an april fools joke because it was printed in news here in nz on the 3rd of april.

maybe he is just like me and procrastinates because it is efficient to do it when you really have the motivation (e.g its due the next day :P )

liz_shaw - April 3, 2005 11:57 AM (GMT)
equals poor time management in my opinion.

What motivates me to do my assignments is knowing that I have them done before my friends, knowing that my friends are stressing whilst I have the time off, knowing that I can relax and knowing that I have time to modify them.

Leaving them to the last minute is not sensible in my opinion.

Work before play is the way that my parents raised me.

dragonorchid - April 3, 2005 12:11 PM (GMT)
Whatever. Tell me more when you are running a company at the same time studying, teaching and putting effort in to ensure you have a good relationship.

In the mean time, I commend you for your diligence and morbid fascination.
