Does LSD really screw you up *that* bad?

LSD is some crazy shit. Here's the basic story behind the U.S governments use of it:

* China brainwashes American P.O.Ws during Korean War, getting them to publicly denounce the U.S, promote communism, etc.
* U.S government sees an inbalance in 'psychological warfare' (they have no such brainwashing techniques of their own).
* U.S government decides to try to find a chemical method of brainwashing captured enemies.
* U.S government experiments with LSD on various U.S civilians.

This is largely declassified by now, so it's not just some BS conspiracy theory. Of course, for every conspiracy theory which turns out to be correct, there are a thousand more which are complete bollocks, like the whole 'the US never landed on the moon' or 'the US government planned 911' or 'the US has an earthquake machine which is generating the tsunamis fucking up SE asia' and so on.
