To get the ball rolling...who's staying up to watch San Marino tonight? Thoughts? predictions?
acrowley - April 24, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
Without a doubt :) It should be a fantastic race if yesterdays qualifying session is anything to go by. Top 7 positions with 7 different constructers and less than a second covering them - be interesting to see how the race stragegies pan out and whether schuey's on the right tyres. 4 Hours left before next qualifying session so a lot can change!

Its quite strange...I dont know what to make of Michael's comments...he seems to think he knows something we don't. He has been known to pull brilliant drives out of no-where (Sepang 99, Monaco any year) but to be fair I don't think my precious ferrari is up to it.
Live timing of the qualifying will be on www.formula1.com and check crash.net for the latest news.
acrowley - April 24, 2005 03:43 AM (GMT)
don't worry I'll be watching the live timing on formula1.com :)
I'd like to think that he can pull it out today, he needs it. He has had so many brilliant drives over his career but this could be make or break season. It was a shock to see him retiring in Bahrain, hopefully they've sorted the car out.

Can't believe Schuey made a mistake! Should be a great race if he can make his way through the pack :)
Edit : and wasn't it! Those last 11 laps were fantastic! Alonso did well to hold onto that lead, but looking at the way Schuey was taking 2 secs a lap out of him before that - Barcelona will be great :)

What a thriller. Unbelievable stuff. Shame about Ruebens, but still, amazing to watch!
El Matador - April 26, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Race results still provisional - BAR acccused of using fuel as ballast. Hearing on 1st May.
El Matador - April 28, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
FIA Will now hear Toyota and BAR's respective appeals and cases at the same time.
Alex Zanardi is rumoured to be making an appearance as part of the USGP buildup by doing some laps of the Indinapolis circuit in an F1 Car.
And from one of those "why did we bother getting up today" stories - Minardi's testing programme came to an abrupt halt at Mugello when the two drivers collided on track.
El Matador - May 5, 2005 05:53 AM (GMT)
The FIA have asked that BAR be excluded from the Championship. Verdict tomorrow.
El Matador - May 5, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
BAR Excluded for two races.
They are seeking an injunction to overturn the ban so they may run at Barcelona.

very much a grey area and an interpretation of the regulations. At least it means Red Bull got a point :)

Wellington City Council decide not to persue V8 Supercars bid, citing the Resource Management Act as a huge hurdle to hosting any sort of event in New Zealand.
V8 Supercars will not race in New Zealand again.

I have been told by both Avesco and IMG that they are at pukekohe again next year but who knows after that
El Matador - May 14, 2005 05:39 AM (GMT)
the news are reporting that next year is off...crash.net shall no doubt be able to settle this puzzler.
kiwi_hockey_guy - May 14, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
Well i was talking to avesco and IMG at pukekohe who are the organisers, and a contract has been signed for another year..... this isnt to be made public yet....
but now pukekohe racing club (horses) are pissed off because they wanted to use their horse track that weekend or something a rather...... But i have a feeling that the trustees for pukekohe raceway will tell the jockeys to get fucked as there will be a lot more money in it for them if they go ahead with the event......
I know for a fact that IMG and Avesco have control of pukekohe for 3 weeks before and 2 weeks after the event usually.... so they'll be paying for that....
El Matador - May 14, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
Hmmm interesting. Only TVNZ seems to be reporting next year is off, so I'll keep my eyes peeled...
Apparently the jockey club has been threatening to issue a writ against the racetrack because of the activity surrounding the V8 Racing...but the jockey club won't be an issue for too much longer. It's owned by Eric Watson and apparently his latest investment in the UK may have been one roll of the dice too many....
