A New Zealand rally has been a disaster before it has even started. It has caused two of its drivers to be seriously injured, one of which was Harri Rovanpera of the Mitsubishi team. his car was said in this article to have had problems.

The rally starts this Thursday night.

Happy Ahmed - April 7, 2005 07:02 PM (GMT)
Wait....

Driving a car really fast can be dangerous?

Shit.

The fact of the matter is that there are certain dangers associated with every sport. Rally cars are strictly monitored to ensure that they have all relevant safety features. The inclusion of a roll cage a five point harnesses make these cars far safer than your average vehicle on the road. However, some accidents are unforseeable or simply cannot be designed for. .

That said, I can't find anything anywhere that says Harri Rovanpera has been killed. I'd like to see your sources.

A New Zealand rally has been a disaster before it has even started.  It has claimed the life of Harri Rovanpera of the Mitsubishi team.

Claimed the life?? what article were u reading??

Todays rally cars are a whole lot safer than most cars. They are also a whole lot safer than the B-class cars of last century...But rally drivers also know how to drive at over 100km/h constantly. on gravel. on narrow roads. while turning...

most of the time

Did u read the article before posting liz?

Yes I did read it before posting, I made a typo in writing life. Sometimes I make sevri typos deending on the day.

Happy Ahmed - April 8, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Which part says severely injured again?

deprecated() - April 8, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
she made a typo.

acrowley - April 8, 2005 01:44 AM (GMT)
Make your mind up FFS. You were talking in another thread about encouraging boyracers into motorsport and now even that is a bad thing. Help me Jesus.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
at what point did I say motorsport was a bad thing? I read over the post 3 times and I never said it.

i just reported that damage was done.

it appears that you are searching for hidden meanings that are not there.

Yes but the post now states the occupants were seriously injured.

I read about damage to a car. I read nothing about any injuries.

Toby Turner - April 8, 2005 05:00 AM (GMT)
i object to my comments being deemed unnecessary. id say more likely this post is unnecessary, considering it is based on a complete fabrication of fact. in my opinion.

Liz,

1) Please becareful to what you post
2) Please take into account other members feelings
3) What ever you post, makesure you can back it up.
3.1) You choosen topic for this thread was :"A Rally Claims A Life".
Question1:
What do you think the readers will grasp from reading a topic like that

3.2) Your post .

Question2: Where in above, does it mention that someone died?

3.3) Looking at the link, there is no mention of any injury... all it says is:
QUOTE

Mitsubishi's Harri Rovanpera has also had problems, ripping a wheel off after crashing into a post, although team mechanics should be able to fix the car in time for the race.

Question3: How do you justify your post now?

I'm sorry, no , im not picking on you. But listen, you gotta keep it clean, coz it causes us a lot more hassle.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 05:51 AM (GMT)
Probably needs to be deleted then, the thread that is.

No you implied it. You also implied there was a loss of life which was not true. And now you want the thread deleted because you look like an idiot.

Motorsport is a great thing. The WRC, Touring Cars, V8's, F1, Cart, NASCAR events are some of the safest in the world. Very few drivers are injured due to the strict legislation and safety standards involved. Please do your research and don't post stupid alarmist threads.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
I misread the article, I think it was very late and I was tired.

SecretSquirrel - April 8, 2005 06:42 AM (GMT)
Should spend less time on the forum then and actually sleep :P

Toby Turner - April 8, 2005 06:44 AM (GMT)
ill take that as an apology lizzy baby

Toby honey, its the closest anyone will ever get to an apology from me. B) Its pretty funny that I misread it :hilarious:

As for spending time of forums and sleeping, I never get to sleep earlier than 3am because I'm on forums, I'm afraid I might miss something.

SecretSquirrel - April 8, 2005 06:50 AM (GMT)
You wont miss much.......most ppl will be asleep then :)

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
People go to bed at about 1:30am on average. I've timed it.

SecretSquirrel - April 8, 2005 06:54 AM (GMT)
Man!

You must really have a lot of free time.!!

Toby Turner - April 8, 2005 06:55 AM (GMT)

are you telling me that you watch through peoples windows at night and hit a stop watch when they get in bed? would that suprise me? no, it would not suprise me. who have you timed? no one in my family goes to be at 1.30am, then we'd all be tired and impotent and be full of mis-judgements and continually miss the point.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 06:58 AM (GMT)
yes I have carefully constructed a televison network and it can see into every single person's house. I constructed thsi because I am an alien from out of space and am carrying out research on the human species. :hilarious:

Nah after several nights of being on forums and not being able to sleep befre 3am, you sort of figure when the general population goes to bed.

the oob - April 8, 2005 07:02 AM (GMT)
A 'casualty' technically does not necessarily mean someone who has died, but that is generally how it has come to be understood (outside of specialist usage such as the military), much like the word 'decimate' originally means 'to kill a tenth of' (a punishment in the Roman legions) but is often used and understood in a way that is technically incorrect.

Typing that was really boring.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 07:09 AM (GMT)
reading it was just as boring. :P

SecretSquirrel - April 8, 2005 07:18 AM (GMT)
zzZZzz

hUH..WHa..

Did someone say something

Happy Ahmed - April 8, 2005 11:59 AM (GMT)
Shut up the lot of you.

Semantics is very interesting.

liz_shaw - April 8, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
well it managed to put me to sleep at 8pm tonight, which is unheard of for me to do.

When people get grammar and spelling incorrect, that is when I get annoyed.

Happy Ahmed - April 8, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
I smell irony

general population doesnt give a fck about the internet or the number of forums or anything for that matter. They got better things to do that may , may not involve the internet.

liz_shaw - April 9, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
No I was totally serious, I fell asleep at 8pm last night which I don't normally do (I had not a single drop of red bull though (yesturday being Friday night) and hence the real reason why I fell sleep. I had two red bulls today but finished my second one at about 2pm (12 hours ago). They honestly give me so much energy...and sometimes make me faint...in places like the supermarket...

I was also serious about people's incorrect spelling and grammar. The question should be asked, when am I not serious?

I go to bed at 3am and wake up at about 9am. My earliest class is at 11am and I only have class three days a week (yes I'm doing 4 papers, I am just incredibly lucky). I have work on Saturday and Sundays but that starts at 12pm.

I can afford to stay up late and sleep in. I get about 6 hous sleep a night.

My body clock is totally fucked up.

acrowley - April 9, 2005 02:05 PM (GMT)
please carry on, I'm enthralled....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ;)

did nobody else see the irony in the second line, written directly after the first line? people in glass houses...

i was also curious, for those of you that do break the law, is indecent exposure still a crime?
