Chavez has described Bush as "worse than Hitler" in a speech to tens of thousands of supporters in Caracas, the Capital of Venezuela.

He also threatened trade sanctions on the US; and emphasised the need for massive spending on the military.

This seems pretty detatched from reality, in my opinion.

The real test of Chavez will come when his term limit is up; he has the power to push through changes to the constitution to allow him to run for another term. He should do the responsible thing and pass the Presidency on.

I'm going to miss Bush when his term is up. I hope Jeb runs in 2008, and wins despite losing the popular vote... that'd be awesome.

What would be even more awesome is the scenario I described with no changes whatsover in the makeup of the administration other than George --> Jeb, in particular, with evil puppetmasters Dick Cheney and Karl Rove staying where they are (if possible).

Karl Rove is smarter than trying to Back Jeb Bush and Dick Cheney into the White House on the Republican ticket.

No doubt he already has his candidate for the Republican nomination lined up.

Unfortunately you're probably right. I would say Cheney will probably be dead of a heart attack by then anyway, but he's fucking survived four of them, so I think it's safe to say that he's some kind of robot.

McCain is probably too old, but it could happen, he's quite popular across the board (not that it would really help him in the primaries). Rice doesn't want to and has absolutely no charisma, it's unlikely.

McCain seems to be one of those few politicians that actually has principles and sticks to them, such men have no place in positions of power.

To be fair, Rumsfeld compared Chavez to Hitler first and his comments were retaliatory.

It's worth imagining yourself in Chavez's position, having the US publically opposing his regime and publically undermining it, and additionally, does anyone remember the coup where the USA helped co-ordinate the media crackdown and immediately recognised the new dictator?
