'Blackadder' is too damn funny to be forgotten!

and good ol' monty python

Adolf Chiang - January 16, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
Speaking of British comedy, what do you guys think of Atkinson's 'Mr. Bean'? In my opinion, he's the successor of Chaplin.

Tony Montana - January 16, 2006 04:52 AM (GMT)
I actually used to be a huge fan of Mr Bean. I don't really like slapstick much now, but when Mr Bean is good, he's very. very good.

I can do some pretty good impressions of Mr. Bean. Now where can I get a cheap tweed suit?

Tony Montana - January 16, 2006 05:01 AM (GMT)
And Teddy!

El Matador - January 16, 2006 09:22 AM (GMT)
How about you get a baby and a tampon to go with the whole cunt theme you've already got going on?

in one of the many op-shops on k road.

trust me man, the best stuff is there. the one we tried in New Lynn was charging like $40 for suit jackets that we bought for $1 on K-Road.

and yeah Mr Bean is awesome, but I think that he is topped by Blackadder

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you sure they aren't flea infested? :hilarious:

'Blackadder' beats 'Mr. Bean' any day due to the involvement of dialogues and characters. I wouldn't mind if Mr. Atkinson and his colleagues get together to make a new season of 'Blackadder' (preferably this new one set in WWII Britain or the Cold War era).

Dr_Steve - January 16, 2006 11:53 AM (GMT)
they did, but it was just a one-off in 2000 called Blackadder goes Back and Forth.

the new words to the blackadder song in the closing credits are a treat :P

Well, that's a shame... That's no better than the last one off episode of Mr. Bean where he pretended to be a hair dresser and was later mailed off to Russia.

Tony Montana - January 16, 2006 10:39 PM (GMT)
They ended season 4 Blackadder well. Captain Darling- 'the Great War's finally over, on today the 14 of August 1917, we're saved!'

Adolf Chiang - January 16, 2006 10:40 PM (GMT)
It's a pity that I've only seen some episodes from that season set in the Elizabethan era. Now why would he be stupid enough to say that in 1917?

Tony Montana - January 16, 2006 10:45 PM (GMT)
Haha. They were all about to go for the 'final push', but there was a lul in the artillery so they thought the war had ended. Obviously not, they charge, and are all killed, and the season ends.

Season II is way the best blackadder imho,

Just because that generation of the Blackadders got wiped out in the great slaughter of 1917, surely they must have descendents like they always do, through the ages... From the higher echelons of 15th century nobility to a WWI infantry captain, I wonder what the next Blackadder in line will end up as.

Dr_Steve - January 18, 2006 01:00 AM (GMT)
watch Blackadder goes back and forth and find out :P

I may have it on tape if you need it...

'Baldrick, you have built a working time machine, which makes you the smartest person who has ever lived. Well Done.'

Happy Ahmed - January 18, 2006 04:37 AM (GMT)
I have 4 series of blackadder on DVD.

Because I pwn.

Apart from 'Sod Off', does Baldrick have an actual first name?

Miss_Illusioned - January 18, 2006 09:40 AM (GMT)
What do you mean apart from Sod Off? Isn't that like saying "Excuse me Mr Hitler. Apart from Adolph, do you have an actual first name?"

Blackadder asked Baldrick about his first name because he needed to register Baldrick as a rotten borough parliamentary candidate. Baldrick replied: "Well it's 'sod off' I believe. Everyone says 'Sod off, Baldrick' so much that I believe it's my first name, sir." In the last season, he was known as Pvt. Baldrick. (This confirms that Baldrick is his surname.)

Tell ya what, why don't you try finding out Adolf Hitler's middle name?

Fez - January 18, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
Incidentally I saw on C4 last night that Little Britain is starting up this year

Adolf Chiang - January 20, 2006 11:09 AM (GMT)
Speaking of comedy from Britain, what do you guys think of Billy Connelly? I'd say that guy is fairly talented.

Dr_Steve - January 20, 2006 11:48 AM (GMT)
indeed. It varies from joke to joke though.

And it is almost the shite-ist one, after season 4. Season 2 is the bestest. Blackadder is my one true love.

Dr_Steve - January 21, 2006 03:47 AM (GMT)
I agree, II rules

Miss_Illusioned - January 21, 2006 04:16 AM (GMT)
2 is defiantely the best :) It's the series that got me itnerested in blackadder and will remain my favourite.

Adolf Chiang - January 21, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
I've only seen episodes from series 2 (it was in history class and we were studying Elizabethan England), it was fuckin' hilarious!

El Matador - January 22, 2006 09:08 AM (GMT)
Season 2 is pretty good. Season three is often misunderstood.

"Death and depravity stalk the nation like...two big stalky things"

I love it already.

Archie McRiff - January 23, 2006 08:17 AM (GMT)
I will have to watch this Little Britain programme, methinks. Can someone let me know when it's on?

Blackadder rulz indeed. I do love some of the episodes from the second series such as "Beer" and "Potatoes" - I may have got the second one wrong, but it's the one with Sir Walter Raleigh and the legless captain. Magic.
