Title: Thomas Morrison
Description: his letter in week 5
liz_shaw - April 5, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
It seems he has made himself look like quite the fool by writing that letter into Craccum.
Happy Ahmed - April 5, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
Toby Turner - April 5, 2005 07:45 AM (GMT)
yeah. imagine the audacity of someone expressing an opinion. how foolist. what a child. and too think, he might even have other people that agree with him. how small minded are these people?
nothing like a personal vendetta a liz? you show that boy up, i say write some more letters in to * craccum and you stick it too him. he cant have many friends if hes a fat ugly dude.
i hear a lot of people writing in to craccum make themselves look like a fool.
liz_shaw - April 5, 2005 09:14 AM (GMT)
No I've decided I am going to approach him face to face, I am not going to be depicted as a fool this year.

Some (NB: not me!) might say thats too late :P
liz_shaw - April 5, 2005 10:27 AM (GMT)
possibly, I wouldn't know. I think I have got anonymity apart from those who are in my lectures at uni.
Toby, the thing is freedom of expression si a two way thing, Thomas is trying to dictate to me what I do and do not do, we live in a democracy.
And what did he think he was going to achieve? does he really think that I am going to change who i am just because of what he says? Not likely.
Thomas has made a fool of himself, not just because he said what he did about me but because he said that EVERYONE thought it, not one person I spoke to agreed with it and I didn't ask first. they volunteered the information.
Majority also rules (66%) that it is not a right to comment on someone's clothing.
Toby Turner - April 5, 2005 10:36 AM (GMT)
brilliant. that is quite ASTONISHING logic. you even have statistics to back it up. well i did a little survey of my own. i checked, and yep, 100% of the people i talked to (me) said 100% of the things you say display the fact you WILL not take into account what other people are telling you. thats well over 200% liz, and the statistics speak for themselves. i should know, im a stat.
Thomas says = you can wear what you like, as long as i dont have you ass poking in my face. d----oooo y--oouu under----stand thi----ssss????????????

liz_shaw - April 5, 2005 10:53 AM (GMT)
re-read thomas's letter, he explicity said "stop wearing mini skirts, for the love that is pure and sacred. Show self respect. Signed everyone in politics 107 but especially me".
Another quote from his letter was "to the laughing girl in my politics 107 lectue (you know who you are)...people were only looking at you because you were showing your cellulite encrusted ass...its a bit like looking for the corpses at a crash scene".
I dont have the letter on me, I just remember insults like this.
He shouldn't have made the comment or if he was going to make the comment he should have done it face to face.
Okay the truth be known, the reason I went to the craccum office yesturday and asked them to stop printing letters such as this is because this week it humiliated me. Privately would have been fine but in a magazine with a circulation of 30,000 people. Thats humiliating. I'm glad he didn't use my name.
Toby Turner - April 5, 2005 10:59 AM (GMT)
well then thats not very nice. and you're right, it was spiteful. and thats nice you can admit it, rather than continue with your perverse, rampaging logic. congratulations.
liz_shaw - April 5, 2005 11:08 AM (GMT)
Toby, do you remember in issue five of lst years craccum, I said "never comment on someone's appearance because I dunno they could have suffered an eating disorder and the slightest comment could spur it on again"?
I have suffered an eating disorder since I was 14 years old, its not as bad as it used to be but it is still there.
I am still highly insecure of my appearance and he zoned in on my biggest insecurity in the world, my weight, obviously my biggest insecurity. i am 54kgs now but I watch my weight still and its why I took up smoking 2 years ago, to smoke instead of eat.
This is also why I have written several letters into Craccum regarding appearances, it is something I am highly insecure about and need to vent.
I wear short skirts to play against those negative emotions, for me wearing jeans would be like saying "I"m ugly, I"m not good enough to wear short skirts" but I am good enough to so I wear short skirts. Short skirts boost my confidence because I'm making a statement "I may be insecure about my body but I"m showing it to people to reduce that.
This probably doesn't make sense but that is why I find it so offensive that people should comment on other people's appearances. I am pissed off at the comments Paris Hilton receives, Tara Reid, Britney Spears etc.
maniacnymph - April 5, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
im not going to tell you my initial reply to the letter in craccum, and im not saying that it couldnt have been dirested to better recipient, whether i believe that to be true or not,
but i WILL say that i respect your reason for wearing miniskirts. good on you. but what you have to do is acknowledge the fact that yes, people are very bloody judgemental, and that no, that isnt going to change in the near future.
it's called : know the facts, and then act accordingly.
you are responsible for yourself, liz, your a grown up now, the decisions you make WILL occasionally come back to bite you in the arse, including the decisions you make on what to wear- learn from them.
maniacnymph - April 5, 2005 11:47 PM (GMT)
oh, and tara reid? she is a disgusting whore. she was PRETTY without those implants. and i know she probably has a good side, but the pictures we constantly see of her ARE DISGUSTING. she is an attention seeker. we simply give her the attention.
britney spears, is alos an attention seeker. either that or she believes that she really DOES have good taste, which simply cant be true. she repulses me.
Paris Hilton?!! oh COME ON MISS SHAW, you cannot say that you truly believe paris does not deserve, nay ASK FOR, all the negative comments regarding her ignorance, two-facedness and sluttiness? a person who stars in a series about themselves showing them repeatedly making comments on how theyd like to have a threesome with the males in the household who are kind enough to take them in, and who constantly backstab and are complete BITCHES about the families so nice to take them in, and who abuse their rights as employees, and steal from employers, and wear what they wear (which only furthers the prejudices against shortskirt wearers...........i repeat COME ON. she does bloodywell deserve the negative attention, and you know it.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 01:46 AM (GMT)
can you pm me your initial reply.
I don't think any of them deserve to be judged, only one side of them is portrayed and supposedly partying is wrong now. Who doesn't party? Who hasn't got kinky sex fetishes? The truth is everyone does.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I know that people DO judge others but they shoudl think before they do. Its just being considerate and being a nice human being.
And also, I want to know, what gives Thomas Morrison the right to drag my name through the mud. As far as I am concerned he also needs to get a grip on reality.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 04:04 AM (GMT)
The actual response directed at Thomas Morrison of Politics 107
What gives you the right to drag people’s name through the mud. How would you like it if I told everyone that you are fat, wear a goofy cap and sit by yourself in the lectures. It is so early in the year and you have made yourself some enemies. For your own sake, I suggest you don’t write any more confrontational letters into Craccum. It will only backfire as it has in this case. I wrote confrontational letters into Craccum last year, just like you and believe me, it backfired on me.
What gives you the right to slander? What gives you the right to say something on other people’s behalf? Nothing does. That is false representation. I spoke to about 10 people in that class who thought your letter was unreasonable in its attack on me and who thought that it was unreasonable that you said something on their behalf, something they don’t agree with. Next time use statistics. As a matter of interest for those reading Craccum, 66% of people think that you don’t have the right to comment on other people’s clothing whilst 34% think you do. This poll was done at the university and comprised of 14 females and 7 males.
Happy Ahmed - April 6, 2005 04:06 AM (GMT)
Margin of error 110% percent.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
NO no, on monday I conducted the poll.
Sarey - April 6, 2005 06:01 AM (GMT)
Toby Turner - April 6, 2005 07:38 AM (GMT)
theres a frase that comes to mind....
'you want the truth? YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH.'
Its funny, like everybody said, no one dragged your name through the mud, no one reading the letter outside of your world knew it was you. but now they do. so we know what he thinks of you. so you're spreading around slander about yourself, and then trying to mop it up. i suggest the whole thing would have been a non issue if you hadnt' acknowledged it in the first place. Sure, what he said is not very nice, but ive had people tell me my penis is small. doesnt mean i need a dick pump. its the motion of the ocean. do you hear what im saying?
hotshotec - April 6, 2005 07:44 AM (GMT)
hmm good point...
You know Liz, if u hadn't revealed that the letter was talking about you, I wouldn't have guessed it was you at all.
I reakon only the ppl in ur class would know.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 09:34 AM (GMT)
Yes I do realise that. I had my reasons for revealing it.
Sarey - April 6, 2005 09:37 AM (GMT)
Reasons that I will not divulge so I look more obscure and lack a point altogether.
Or is there one and you're just trying to fool us all? Heaven forbid!
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
There is a reason, which I think I covered in one of the other threads, I can't recall which one it was.
I was very offended at that letter that was published in Craccum. I went to the editors office, that was the first revelation was me. I had to reveal it was me in order for the flames on me in Craccum to stop. I mean there have been a lot of flames and instead of responding I am now doing something about it.
My other reason for revealing it was me is to prove a point that some people will flame people for no reason, I had not said anything in Craccum for 2 weeks, another letter mentioned me 'still irritating the masses' again, not a true comment. I have only had one letter published this year.
If there had only been that one letter using the pseudynm whilst referring to me I probably wouldn't have said anything but there were two letters. Flaming with a reason is something I don't like but it has justification. These flames this week had NO justification. I don't want any negative letters published regarding me this year, is that so wrong?
I also revealed it to make the editors job easier for them. They almost need a letter screener....I wonder who could do that job...
Happy Ahmed - April 6, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
Maybe you irritate people for longer than a week.
Sarey - April 6, 2005 10:07 AM (GMT)
Or the added presence in the lecture theatre was too much for him?
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 10:08 AM (GMT)
and also think of it this way, Thomas Morrison hassled something I am insecure about (by the way, I am not fat and I don't want people thinking that) but imagine this, you have had an eating disorder for several years and then someone publicly mocks you about your biggest insecurity. It is pretty offensive and on Monday (when I next have that class) he is going to pay. What he did was not very nice and I'm not sure, maybe you think I should let it go, but for the reasons stated above, I can't let it go. I am still heavily insecure about my appearance and am frequently on a diet.
Thomoas Morrison shouldn't have said what he said. :frustrated:
Happy Ahmed - April 6, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
Maybe you've said some things that you shouldn't have said which made him feel fat and throw up too.
Sarey - April 6, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
How the HELL is he supposed to know that you had an eating disorder that you've can't get over? Or did you air that about in Craccum as well? Do you ever NOT tell the world about yourself?
Christ...
Edit: Baby Jesus is laughing.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 10:21 AM (GMT)
He doesn't know and that is why people shouldnt make those sorts of comments at all. Do you get what I am saying in this comment?
I do not air everything, I air a few things. Last year I hinted at the eating disorder but it was only a hint. Hassling my opinions is fine, hassling someone's appearance (especially a girl's appearance, no anyone's actually) is NEVER okay, NEVER.
I wonder how he would feel if he knew that I am dragging his name through the mud. yes I am a hypocrite but I feel that my hypocracy is justified. He hassled my looks.
I don't think i will ever get over this comment. I couldn't speak on Monday because of it. I was pretty angry then about it. I just want to punch him and on Monday, this is going to make me sound bad, on Monday if I get the opportunity to punch him I am going to.
Happy Ahmed, I know I have said things that have pissed people off, not just the comments themselves but the wording as well so I have worked on it severely to ensure it doesn't happen. What I love about this forum is that I can clarify things that people aren't sure about.
I am going to go back to the David Irving comment as that really pushed people over the edge with their opinion of me last year. Maybe he is a racist, I don't know (thats a move from, he's NOT racist), I haven't spoken to him but surely, surely everyone is entitled for free speech. At the time the letter was published I didn't realise what had happened in Canada, when I did find out my opinion shifted to him not being allowed to give his speech.
Regarding my comments on abortion, I was pretty messed up when I wrote that and really had to search for something to pick apart. The letter the following week from "studdy meowingtons" was written after I'd realised how incredibly rediculous what I'd written was. I personally think it is better to wear protection when having sex to avoid pregnancy and stds or to at least use the pill to avoid pregnancy. I don't think that if you surveyed a group of girls they would be anti protection or the pill.
I was fucked last year, very fucked psychologically and that was represented in the letters that I wrote. I don't know how I wrote them, I don't know what I was thinking. The point is that I wasn't thinking at all.
Happy Ahmed - April 6, 2005 10:24 AM (GMT)
To be perfectly honest, I didn't read any of your letters. I was just hassling your eating disorder.
EDIT: In that one post, you wrote:
QUOTE

followed closely by:
QUOTE
...surely, surely everyone is entitled for[sic] free speech.
So.... it's okay to deny that millions of Jews were flayed by a little faggot with a silly moustache, but it's not okay to call you fat. What?

This explanation allows me to see your side of the story much better now Liz, Im sorry again about your former eating disorder.
The others also have a valid point that if you just ignored his comments, you might show him you are the bigger person and do not have to result to such dirty tactics to put someone down.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
outside the engineering building at 1pm or attend the lecture at 12pm. It is room 1439 (the one closest do the door).
I have really had to bite my tongue about this, I mean, sure I'm still talking about it one week later but usually i would send a letter to Craccum. I don't think that is the answer this time. I have located him and so I can make him pay personally rather than publicly. I get more satisfaction in doing that anyway.
Toby Turner - April 6, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
Let me make this very clear. People do not care about your problems with smoking too much or not wearing enough. The only reason any interest is paid to this whole charade is a morbid fascination with your attitude followed by vain attempts to reason with you. This entire episode is destined to exemplify why your legacy to this university will be nothing more than a role of the eyes and a snigger.
However, you could very easily redeem yourself by writing excellent sporting analysis and forming fact-based opinions about things.
There are people dying in china. DYING.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 11:17 AM (GMT)
I am not writing sport analysis, merely I am writing articles about sport that are only factual, no opinons mentioned. My name is not going to be associated with the sports news in the slightest. I've asked for this.
My opinions are fact based. People have different opinions. I respect yours without quesiton and you need to start respecting mine. I am tired of receiving the flame for every little thing because having different opinions is not a fault. It is a fact of life.
I'd appreciate if you would refrain from getting personal and insulting me personally. I have not done the same to you and therefore it is not justified. We all know your opinion of me, you don't need to keep on stating it.
Toby Turner - April 6, 2005 11:41 AM (GMT)
ok. you win. im sorry to have hurt you. i just called, to say, i love you. I may be an arrogant prick, but that shouldnt mean you should ever resort to insults. keep the moral high ground i say.
when you say what you think about other peoples opinions, it is an argument. when the reverse happens its a flame. im confused.
i, quite seriously, will never offend you again. but if you listen to what people say when they disagree with you, perhaps you will learn something. You will not always be right. IN fact you may often be wrong, and sometimes you appear to be bigoted, and not very nice at all. If people pick up on this, you should explain yourself properly, or agree, but you cant just dismiss it as flaming. please think before you upset me again, and i throw my toys.
liz_shaw - April 6, 2005 11:46 AM (GMT)
:P I will be keeping the moral high ground and it is taking a lot of strength from me, strength I didn't even know I had. In a way you've really tested me since you've joined this forum. Must end sentence here.
I don't mean this as a compliment or as an insult but you and I have very similar personalities I think. However we do have different reasoning and different opinions. I think that is why we have clashed.
Toby Turner - April 6, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
