Title: LAN Game- 26th to the 28th of December
Description: Looking for a 10th person
the oob - December 14, 2005 09:09 AM (GMT)
Hey, post here if you're interested in this, we have 9 people but it would be nice to have 10. If you don't have a good enough computer I have a spare laptop you can use.
Spending time with video games > spending time with family.
We'll also be watching some movies in the evening of the first two days, so if you're bored but too lazy for a full LAN you could come be social and watch those.
Other activities may include:
* Gamecube (if Alex buys extra controllers by then as he intends). Why not Xbox or PS2? Because Super Smash Brothers: Melee is the finest multiplayer console game ever conceived.
* Foosball
* Consuming too much coke and pizza
* Poker, with this cool set of chips I bought
* Sleep deprivation

Samf has taken this place (except for the first day) and some other people who I thought would be away may now be in, so it's looking like 10-12 people. We can take more people if there is interest, since I have the whole house this time, if there ends up being more than 10 we'll split across multiple rooms, although we could fit more in the main room if someone brings a table.

the oobs lair. Given that there's now a few people from this forum interested, I'll do a proper details post, see the post below this one, which contains the address and directions.
the oob - December 16, 2005 10:28 AM (GMT)
Date and time:
The 26th to the 28th of September. Starts at 11am on the monday, ends wednesday afternoon/evening. Runs overnight both nights.
Location:
the oobs lair-
23 Ronald Macken Place, Mairangi Bay.
Basic directions- Get off the northern motorway at the 'Upper Harbour Highway' offramp, turn right off the offramp onto Constellation Drive, turn left at Centurion (the last left before you hit the end of the road/east coast road), then the third right is Ronald Macken Place. It's a two story house and will most likely have a red nissan sentra outside.
What to bring (necessary):
* Your computer with any necessary parts and cables (you may want to check you have a network card if you haven't lanned before). I have a lot of spare cords and such so I may be able to hook you up if you forget something, but no guarantees. Make some space on your computer so you can install the games... at least 10 gigs I'd say.
* Headphones (speakers = the noes)
* A LAN cable, preferably a long one.
* A quad power strip or some such
* Sleeping gear if you plan to stay overnight
* Money for your share of the pizza or your own food.
What to bring (these would be useful for us, but aren't necessary):
* An extension cable
* A crossover cable (for connecting switches, because using straight through cable for that feels dirty
* Soda, if you intend to drink any.
* Random snacks
* A fan, since I only have one and it's summer. The room the LAN will be in stays fairly cool though so it's not too much of a problem.
* A portableish table. If we end up with more than 10 people we'll need more tables if we're going to fit everyone in the same room, but splitting across several rooms is a decent option. EDIT: Alex is providing this, but if you have another and are planning to come tell me as I may have use for it.
Miscellaneous:
If you're coming and don't have my cell number, request it by pm so that you can text/ring me if you're cancelling/arriving late/etc.

right I've thought about this, my brother is going to want to use the computer in the days immediately after xmas, so if I am able to come it'll be most likely only for 1 day.

Ahh man, the place I rent Smash Brothers from sold it, and no other video store rents N64 stuff. I'd buy the game, but I can't find it anywhere except in trademe auctions where I'd need to buy a heap of other shit too.
That makes me a sad panda :(
the oob - December 23, 2005 10:00 AM (GMT)
Ooh I found it individually in a net auction yay :)... although I probably won't get it in time for the LAN.
Dr_Steve - December 26, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
sorry I'm not going to be able to make it to the lan, too much family stuff on. and our internets managed to die on xmas eve. grrr... stupid router

I know this is late, but expect me there tomorrow morning... is there still a laptop available I can use? I'm able to bring along a power strip and possibly some soda/other miscellaneous food if necessary.

Yep come along. It looks like we'll only have seven tomorrow (perhaps eight), but it's enough.

Hmmm, would have been cool to go to. However you guys changed the forum address or something? craccumforum.tk doesn't work. Only just found the forums again.
