| in some situations it is appropriate to state your opinion..in this situation its not. show some sensitivity and make your parents proud. |
Are you saying that we should force people to not express their opinions?
| QUOTE (Hannoir @ Dec 2 2005, 03:33 PM) |
so, by the looks of it, you two have gone on a power trip and ruined it for the rest of us, making a serious issue degenerate into a bitch fight and i can moderate more than you hahaha.
|
Moderating flames isn't going on a power trip. Neither was anyone here was gloating about their moderation "powers", or would you care to explain otherwise?

Personally I think the editing in this thread is over the top.
But then again who am I to say something like that!
samf - December 2, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
Back to Harmeet.
Any updates yet?
Hauser - December 2, 2005 07:37 AM (GMT)
I am rather concerned. The guys who are holding him sound like bigger nutjobs than usual, since it seems like they're not actually demanding a ransom.
Anti-Flag - December 2, 2005 07:38 AM (GMT)
Thank you oob for keeping us kids in check.
Samf, no. Nothing yet. Let's hope Al Jazeera works some magic.
JERI - December 2, 2005 09:25 AM (GMT)
I hope those kidnappers get hernia.

Signed the petition in an effort to free Harmeet and his friends: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/freethecptIncluded in the list are people like Noam Chomsky, Tariq Ali, and the parents of Rachel Corrie.
On Monday at 6pm there will be a vigil at Aotea Square for Harmeet.

petition signed (thought that counts)
I work mon nights but I express my sympathies in spirit
Hauser - December 3, 2005 11:16 AM (GMT)
I saw on a Three News report in the background of a mates place I was in tonight they were threatening to kill Harmeet unless they released all the Iraqi prisoners! I really fucking hope I had misheard this...
Anti-Flag - December 3, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
Hauser, unfortunately, that's true. I was hoping they wouldn't demand something like this...'cause let's be honest, it's not going to happen.
I had a meeting with a group of people from Palestine Human Rights Campaign, SJP, amongst others. We're trying to get Al Jazeera to disseminate pics of Harmeet carrying anti-occupation banners to show his political views aren't aligned with the occupiers. It's all we can do.
SheDevil - December 4, 2005 09:06 AM (GMT)
Goddamit, that's really shit :( I wish i could pray for him but unfortunatley i don't pray and i believe that God is the reason behind bad things like this happening to good people, but i know there will be a fuckload of people out there who will pray for him. I'll wish upon a star that he will be safe, hang in there anti-flag :)
Anti-Flag - December 4, 2005 10:36 AM (GMT)
Cheers SheDevil, appreciate it.
Steveo - December 5, 2005 05:50 AM (GMT)
I've just been watching the news, looks like they broadcast the appeals and some authority in Iraq has condemmed the kidnapping.
Fingers crossed
the oob - December 5, 2005 08:40 AM (GMT)
Out of curiousity, and I'm not saying this to troll (really), has a campaign to get kidnappers in Iraq to release their hostages (on the basis of who those hostages are) ever worked?
SheDevil - December 5, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that British guy, sorry for my ignorance (read:alcohol affected memory), i cant remember his name, older man, he was released. So there is definatley hope.
Anti-Flag - December 5, 2005 09:35 AM (GMT)
Steveo, many Islamic groups both within Iraq and outside have condemned the kidnapping and called for their release. Including the Islamic party in Iraq, Palestinian Mufti, NZ Islamic Association, and British Council of Muslims.
Let's hope this will serve as a means of convincing them they're not helping their cause by kidnapping innocent people.
Oob, the Chinese hostages were released.
Today's vigil went well, and more people showed up than we thought. It was good to see the media there, the more media exposure by the 8th the better.
Steveo - December 6, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
Just heard that they are planning to release him!
Fez - December 6, 2005 08:24 AM (GMT)
Hauser - December 6, 2005 09:47 AM (GMT)
Where does it say that? Bloody awesome news if it's true.
Anti-Flag - December 6, 2005 11:32 AM (GMT)
News to me! all i have have come by is Harmeet speaking in the latest video. Telling us he hopes to see us soon.
In these situations, i wouldn't count on anything. I'll believe it when it actually happens.
