No bullshit offer! Just sign up to GameSpy and install their special download manager. On retail, that old game still sells for around N.Z.$24.95. If you don't have it, download it for free (only takes about 24 hours on 56k)!

http://www.fileplanet.com/free_games.shtml may have more good games for free uploaded in the near future, watch that space.

Meh, every game is 'free' these days.

I don't trust those P2P servers being used to spread viruses and trojans.

But you're happy to sign up to gamespy.

Neither do I, that's why I use decentralised p2p (bit torrent, DC++).

Adolf Chiang - November 6, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
There's no guarantee against downloading corrupt files from P2P if you're getting software.

the oob - November 6, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
There's no guarantee a meteor won't fall on my head if I leave the house, which is why I stay indoors at all times.

Adolf Chiang - November 6, 2005 10:27 AM (GMT)
How often do infected or corrupted files come into download?

the oob - November 6, 2005 10:45 AM (GMT)
I can't ever remember getting such a file in Bit Torrent, simply because people won't seed dodgy files or host the tracker for them.

Stop promoting conflict. The reason why I had my GameSpy account was to download files previous unaccesible to the wider C&C community. I personally don't download much since I usually don't have the time to enjoy the files harvested.

Fuck you. I'm going on a feministic rampage.

I'll say two good things about Gamespy: it gets files before anyone else does, and its file browser is pretty decent (if you're blocking all the ads and such). So what I usually do when I want the latest patch for a game is find it in Gamespy, see what the file name is, then google the file name.
