It's the seal hunting season yet again. Protesters and hunters alike are out on the ice of Canada.

On one hand, seal hunting brings in millions of precious dollars for poor villages who benefit greatly from the fur gained. It's an age-old practice many depend on for their livelihood. Canadian officials maintain that the hunts are strictly controlled and humane.

One the other hand, allegations of barbaric killing and skinning practices are plenty. Tools such as hooks on ends of stick and blunt clubs are claimed to be used, as well as the skinning alive of cuddly, furry, seemingly defenseless seals, with those big adorable eyes.

A few things before anyone opens their uninformed mouths:

1) Clubbing a seal is more humane than shooting a seal
2) Clubbing baby seals is banned, and adult seals aren't nearly as cute
3) The alternative to clubbing seals is for their population to exceed what their environment can support, resulting in them starving to death

It's simply a case of 'survival of the cutest'. Morons only care about the animals that look cute, and don't think about the ugly animals that are important to the ecosystem etc. Not that I care about them either mind you, just making an observation.



On a completely different matter, how the hell do I resize images in bbcode? Putting any operators into the [img] tag screws things up.

what a gorgeous seal, no it is not okay that they are killing innocent animals.

However, if the villages are poor then they need to generate an income somehow and they can't be moralistic so I guess it is okay for them to do.

i wouldn't personally do it but they need to. :(

Nah, in all seriousness it's sad but I can't talk since I love me some pork/chicken/lamb/beef. It's all the same.

Make up is the root of some evil. I hate the shit. Its so fake and people shouldn't wear it, it looks horrible. Natural is the way to go.

As for meat, chicken is good, not the others.

At what point did I say I would use the make up on me though, for all you know I would give it away. I wouldn't give it away but you don't know that I would use it, chances are I wouldn't. I only wear make up when going out these days. Other than that I just don't see the point to it.

Anyway the seals have never done anything great for us so why not kill them. I don't mean that in a horrible way. I just mean that we eat animals for meat and yet we complain about people killing endangered animals but when it comes down to it, I don't think we really care about it.

The seals got the $2000 because someone put it on them when they were dead.

Micheal jackson didn't give the seals the cubs, he took them to a deserted club and that is where he molested them.
