Title: Weird/interesting Music
Description: Where the wanky get serious
Aaron_von_Cock - April 3, 2005 04:43 AM (GMT)
I was just sort of hoping to set up a place where stuff like Green Day and RHCP aren't discussed in too much depth. I find a lot of people are too afraid to explore music that's more fucked up than they're used to. Your patience can be rewarded like you won't believe if you open your mind and ears to more experimental music. Personally, I hust bought that Patton/X-Ecutioners CD in the last craccum and it is fucking wicked! Like nothing I'd heard before. Go out and try.
Also, what's the most screwed up CD you own?

thats a very very hard one as i have so many, probably
"The Number 12 Looks Like You - Put On Your Rosy Red Glasses EP"

Anyone here heard of Sparta? They certainly are something. Art rock with sounds richer than a perfect circle and none of that franz ferdinand influence. Good Shit!

Too many to name.
Manpussy - Foreskin 500
Any of the 3 Mr Bungle CD's are pretty rad
Mindless Self Indulgence - Frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy
Anal Cunt - I like it when you die
Brutal Truth - Sounds of the animal kingdom
Don't even start on MP3.

Mr Bungle is cool. You should also check out Fantomas, which is real art metal. Their first album is pretty messed up - just thrash and screaming.
Sparta is cool too. They're better than the Mars Volta.

I was just going to mention Fantomas. My god, can it be any cooler? And I have heard about the General Patton vs. X-ecutioners. Definitely need to get my hands on that.
I think it just confirms that Mike Patton is a god. After Lemmy of course. Actually, screw that. ABOVE Lemmy.

Hell yeah. I'm slowly working my way through his back catalogue which is a pretty wanky thing to do, but it's not as if it's all the same. I bought the first Fantomas album the other day which has caused my ears to ring constantly since, and am eagerly anticipating Suspended Animation. Also check out Kaada and Patton, its kinda creepy but cool

The first Fantomas song I heard was a T-Rex cover, Chariot Choogle. Holy crap, I nearly had a spasm. Absolute awesomeness.

Hell No!
Sparts newest album is ok, personally i felt it was a bit of a poor effort. The Mars Volta are amazing. If you like Sparta try a band called "The Sound Of Animals Fighting".
Also check out 3 Inches Of Blood, they are amazing they have Iron Maidenish singing and 8 Foot playing really really good mix :D
Anyone here into Hardcore or Post Hardcore?
Aaron_von_Cock - April 5, 2005 04:29 AM (GMT)
Try Moosmbasil and the Blue Umbilicus. I think they've got some songs you can download somewhere on the net in NZ sites
Happy Ahmed - April 5, 2005 06:02 AM (GMT)
I have a fantomas Cd floating around somewhere. I prefer Mr Bungle though.
Hardcore is one of my fortes. I don't know what the fuck post-hardcore is. It sounds like some faggoty pseudo-genre used to describe a progression which doesn't fit within the classical definition of that genre. I suggest expanding the definition instead of creating some new elitist wank genre.
That said, i'm pretty much obsessed with Glassjaw and The Blood Brothers at the moment. I don't know how to define glassjaw, Blood Brothers are probably screamo or some bullshit like that. Throw in a bit of obscure dead kennedys, some of the more offensive NOFX songs, screaming monkey boner, the homestar runner soundtrack, a bit of lil Jon, and you've pretty much got my playlist at the moment.
I know too much obscure music. Someone is going to have to start talking about something to cue my ideas.
Steveo - April 5, 2005 07:37 AM (GMT)
Glassjaw is good :D
Post Hardcore is bands like "the number 12 looks like you" and "The Locust" too extreme to be hardcore. Its not wanky at all its actually very good if you like that kind of thing. I also quite like My Chemical Romance, but too my horror I saw them on c4 today :o spose they kinda fit into the popish side of things <_< .
I am a whiney bitch with my music tho :P

I do like Glassjaw a whole bunch, though I can't believe Head Automatica is Darryl's side project. I like it, but it's different, that's for sure.
I just recently started listening to My Chemical Romance, seems like their fanbase consists of 15 year old eyeliner wearing 'tards. Nevermind, I like 'em.
Happy Ahmed - April 6, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
Also I have probably been listening to far too much Evil Priest and Brutal Truth for my own good.
