Alecs brother Hamish is in a band called "Dilletant" I hear they are playing at Edens Bar this Saturday, not sure what time.
Ive heard them play before, they're really good, Hamish sounds exactly like the lead singer from The Strokes sometimes, its kinda creeepy.

God steveo hasnt put anything on here yet!
I went to Stereogram with Goodnight Nurse and 48may on saturday night..........(the tickets were free)
Stereogram were very good live......... i'll give them that...... their lead singer (skinny guy) really knows how to work the crowd.......
Steveo - June 22, 2005 09:25 AM (GMT)
Ok, I have been to a few gigs but have not been bothered to write a review :S
The D4 & The Bleeders @ Kings Arms
I arrive at the Kings Arms Tavern in great excitement. I take my place at front centre of the stage as the Bleeders start to set up. Begining the set I am very impressed with the way they hold it all together. Overall a very good show, they worked the crowd well. Now for The D4. Amazing! The D4 were very very good. Rocking through their set they manage to do the Japanese version of Sake Bomb (barely :P), I struggle to the bar to get some water and narrowly avoid a 30 y.o womans groping hand (*shudder*). The night ends and I drive them home.
Good night, very enjoyable. I would encourage everyone to see The D4
kiwi_hockey_guy - June 22, 2005 11:30 AM (GMT)
well either 48 may or goodnight nurse sung their remdition of Kelis's Milkshake....... good for a laugh......
48 Mays next single will have the guy from the fast crew rapping in it..... (they performed it) he got booed off stage from the hard out fans........
The guy from stereogram looks like jesus....... climbed on the hanging speakers (at the studio from the roof) then walked around the whole place introducing himself to people...... All while singing......
He then walked over the crowd to the bar....... made a shaker and gave out shots to crowd members.....
ALL WHILE SINGING......
I was rather impressed even though its not really my cup of musical tea

Hauser - July 9, 2005 10:27 AM (GMT)
Cheers for the space, steveo :D.
It was pretty bloody awesome (and it's about the fifth time I've seen them now). Even though I'm not a huge fan of their new album (absolutely love their old stuff though), they play all their new tracks with such an insane energy that you can enjoy them even if you don't know the songs themselves.
The band was really charged up, but rather annoyingly the venue (Powerstation) didn't actually seem that full, which meant the crowd was a lot less excitable (also due to the long wait between the final support act and them coming on stage).
They played stuff from Killjoy, the General Electric, Pacifier (and the new one as mentioned above), nice and varied, which was definitely a plus. Especially them playing Wait and See, where I was a lone voice in the crowd screaming with delight as the synthesisers powered across the crowd :P
Really good sound and cool light effects, and coming back for an encore to play 'Run' really ended the entire night on an awesome note :D.
Thumbs up to Shihad!

Ok fullas (and fullesses) I had the pleasure of attending "The !We Rock! Club presenting Ophiuchus, Amperzhan, Hogwild, Oversight, Inverse Order & Fries With That". Now to be honest I was not expecting much, after hitting the Brick House with some mates (only to find we were the only people in there), we decided to cruise over to Shadows, meeting a certain forum goon at the bottom of the stairs with some of her friends I greet her "hi *****" I say, followed by her yelling randomly "I dont care", lovely up the stairs we are greeted by the lovely AUSA club lady (whom is teh scary one, not Shedevil (sorry dude) ) we enter, getting ready to play are "Ophiuchus", with an interesting twist to a hardcore band they had a female vocalist, they seemed to come together nicely, and the back up (singer/screamer) didnt run out of puff. A solid performance by a band which will go down well in NZ's small Hardcore scene. Next was the last band of the night (We only saw 2 due to the Brickhouse disaster), this band reminded me of The D4, getting the crowd going with some really catchy songs (please if anyone remembers the name post it up)'' :sjs:
Coming up on the 18th is Shai Hulud at the Voodoo bar, if your into Hardcore this is going to be the show of the year (so far) backed up by NZ's premier HC lads "Cold By Winter", make sure to support NZ music and buy their cd "We The Living"
Yeliah - August 5, 2005 06:28 AM (GMT)
Steveo, it wasn't me you saw was it? If it was, I apologise immensely. I think the term referred to for the state I was in is 'ratpissed'. My friend's band was Hogwild. They played second to last or something, so it could have been them. Then I went to Eden's Bar and saw Hamish's band The Dilettantes play. Very Strokes-esque, I thought.
Steveo - August 5, 2005 06:33 AM (GMT)
Is your friend in the band with the female singer? Or the one with the lead singer who had red hair + aviators + cowboy hat?
Yeliah - August 5, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
Red hair, aviators and cowboy hat. That's Hogwild. Did you like them? Sorry about the atrocity at the bottom of the stairs, Steveo. Don't hate me. Hate the beer. No, actually. Don't hate the beer. :P
Steveo - August 5, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Thats ok Yeliah :P my mate tried to beat me up (due to having 5 vodka blacks), hehe big mistake as im double his size :P
Dude they are fucking awesome! Do they have a cd or anything? I was really impressed specially with their guitarist (that asian dude), let me know if I can buy a cd or something
Yeliah - August 5, 2005 06:41 AM (GMT)
Hehe, okay. Sweet. Nah, they don't have a cd or antyhing - yet. But I'm just letting him know what you thought so he can perhaps think about putting something together. I'm sure he'll appreciate the thought. :)
Steveo - August 6, 2005 06:25 AM (GMT)
Yeah me want CD now! Not even any dodgey mp3 tracks?
Aaron_von_Cock - August 8, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)

Fez - August 19, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
I saw the Dilletantes gig at the Wine Cellar tonight.
Fuckin awesome, I wanted to get the EP off Hamish but he had dissappeared and I really needed to pee so yeah that didnt happen.
The kids were in full swing, I wonder if they are able to play at my party :hmm:
They played a half hour set, maybe longer in teh cramped quaters. We rocked and rolled, some hot chick behind me was bopping away and I was very tempted to say hi after the show but when they finished she had vanished.
9/10
Aaron_von_Cock - August 24, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
teh "hot chick" was me, I'm afraid. I was checking you out too. Nice aaaaaaasssssssssss.
I have the ep, by the way. Does that make me ten times cooler by asociaion with the musical experience?
Fez - August 24, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
 you bastard, slowly undressing me with your eyes...
That makes you not only 10 mins more cool, but... just more cool.
Tell me Mr Von Cock, if you were said hot girl, why then did you not take me home?
Aaron_von_Cock - August 24, 2005 06:12 AM (GMT)
My girlfriend didn't approve when asked about a threesome. Buuuuut......... meet up in craccum tomorrow?

Oookay. Male clandestine love affairs aside...
I stole this information from Von Cock and am now going to post it here for all that are interested.
At the Bollix on Wednesday - The Sneaks, Pluto and Gramsci.
The Sneaks are fucking rad. Oh yeah.
Yeliah - August 29, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
Umm. I was informed last night that Gramsci are playing at Galatos on Wednesday, so...Hm. Interesting.

Okay, the magazine got it wrong. It's the Bollix. As far as I know.:helen:
Yeliah - August 31, 2005 12:16 PM (GMT)
So it was fucking awesome. I had to wait in a line outside for a fuckload of time because my friends decided they wanted to drink more before we went...Von Cock was there, he can probably give a better analysis of the whole thing than I can, but it was rad.
The Dilletantes are playing at Eden's Bar tomorrow night. That's Thursday September 1st. Oh yeah.
