Title: Who Shot The Cat?
Description: not me!
aqua - October 13, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
Cat will be shotSurely its nicer to the cat to just leave it food and let it live in the tree like a hermit?
the oob - October 13, 2005 07:34 AM (GMT)
Blast it out with a firehose.

I heard they tried.
Fire will get it down.
Maliekieth - October 13, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
Couldn't they just shoot a tranq dart at it and wait for it to fall out. Put some nets or padding under the tree and just let it fall out!

Probably the better solution, but I guess shooting it will be cheaper.

You just need some guy with a slug gun and the balls to do it. It doesn't take all that effort to shoot it.

Since I don't live down there, I guess I can't.
Fez - October 13, 2005 08:03 AM (GMT)
This wouldnt have happened if they just kept cats in jars like they should do.
Hannoir - October 13, 2005 08:04 AM (GMT)
I feel bad for the cat. I'd go down the tranquilizer path personally.
Senor - October 13, 2005 08:19 AM (GMT)
fuck traquilisers, cut the tree down.
Dr_Steve - October 13, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
well if the cat can survive up there, I suggest making it into a tourist attraction. There's nothing wrong with exploiting nature for profit.
El Matador - October 13, 2005 10:07 AM (GMT)
I'll get yer cat down for ya.

Its the american way!
Synopsis - October 13, 2005 10:12 AM (GMT)
Eventually it'll faint from hunger and fall down all on it's own.

Lol, just leave it alone up there, it can't be making that much noise.
I bet Chiang would love to shoot it.
Sardonic - October 13, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
After many attempts (including the fire brigade) a local artist climbed the tree and rescued the animal. It wasnt difficult. Some people just dont know how to deal with cats

Only if it's legal to do. I'd kill it twice before it hits the ground.
Mr Lanky Bobs - October 14, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
from what i remember of small bore shooting you weren't the best...

yes, with a marmite sandwhich! :hilarious:

| But Napier painter Jamie Green didn't like that scenario, and got out of his sick bed to coax the cat down with the unlikely bait of a marmite sandwich. |

Shooting that cat would be simple. It'll just be like shooting a possum.

Well, firstly you can only kill something once. Secondly that implied you'd shoot it twice, and assuming you weren't using an automatic weapon that second shot would be while it was falling. Have you ever shot at a moving target? Tis quite hard
*sigh* another thread has been Chiang'd. :chiang:
Guess it was partly my fault too
Adolf Chiang - October 14, 2005 08:07 AM (GMT)
I've shot a possum before, while it was moving between branches. The point is, it won't be hard shooting that cat.
Mr Lanky Bobs - October 18, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
i say we should put this to the test...while it is cruelty to animals we could get a stuffed teddy in a tree and see if hitler can shoot it twice before it hits the ground...of course giving hitler a gun with other people around isnt the best idea...

Shut it, Craig! I can outshoot you even if I'm drunk and the barrel is crooked.
samf - October 18, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
Somehow I don't want to find out whether that assertion is true. As a substitute I say we get both these guys drunk and set up a paintball duel somewhere.
Hauser - October 18, 2005 08:34 AM (GMT)
I'll own you at any shooting contest, Chiang. I shot a hundred running Cong back at Khe Sanh, during the Tet Offensive and at Hill 343.
Jesus, I shot down a Cong Soviet chopper who was flying above us on the Sixth of November 1970, after he wiped out half my platoon during us doing a routine sweep 60 miles out from the DMZ ... Jimbob went down, so did Bubba ..... We had to kill a hundred Cong to get out .... A HUNDRED MORE CONG!
samf - October 18, 2005 10:41 AM (GMT)
Hauser > Chiang for military awesomeness
él_bronto - October 18, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)

I shot all over your mum's back.
templar34 - October 19, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
Chiang, not sure if you've noticed before, but we're not currently at war. I know it's disappointing, but there's no point in your bravado. Besides, if we were at war I'd be laughing at you being a grunt, whereas I'd be sitting far behind the frontline in an intelligence tent. Multilingualism for the win.

I am fully aware that our country is safe from foreign aggression and only a fool will find that disappointing. What bravado? Referring to the question of that damn cat, I would happily shoot it if it's legal and I have to chance to do so.
It would be a sad error in judgement to turn me into a grunt. Diggers are those that do not have the intelligence or education to be officers. By the time I graduate, my BE will surely be wasted if I get positioned as a grunt. I rather be an officer, preferably in the corps of logistics or engineering.
You're not the only one here who is bilingual.
samf - October 19, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
I have English, some French and the stumbling beginnings of Mandarin. Tune in later for Vietnamese and Korean.
templar34 - October 19, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
Chiang, you're far too easy to bait. At the end of the day near none of us would be near the frontline. We can all use PCs --> Intel, logistics, engineering etc etc.
R&D for all us physics students :D
samf - October 19, 2005 04:07 AM (GMT)
I'll be writing propaganda, and blogging in my spare time about how it's all America's fault.

More engineers are hired for R&D than the physicists. There's always a frontline, and it gets closer to the HQ as we speak. With high speed and stealth aircraft, the new front line would be the support infrastructures as the empower the forces in the field.
The classical frontline is still in existence as occupation and counter insurgency is ultimately a man's job. You can employ tanks to spearhead into a town but street-by-street will always be grunt work. Unless the target is so worthless that it deserves to be flattened by intensive bombardment.

Exploit religious words and quote things out off context. These are classic methods of the propagandist. Whether atheist or not, if a cause is portrayed as a sacred duty, flocks shall follow. This has been used from the Bolsheviks to the Nazis and Bush.
samf - October 19, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
I have built a degree on that strategy.
Adolf Chiang - October 19, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
I'm not kidding about the possibility of an omnipresent global frontline:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/systems/hcv.htmYou're looking at the ultimate UCAV (unmanned aerial combat vehicle).
