Please, feel free. I might just go and finish the game off.

I haven't played 'Doom 3'. One thing I don't understand about 'Doom' is that the preferred weapon is some cheap shotgun while the technology in that world is clearly available for an assault rifle or submachinegun that fires rapidly. The closest answer they have to that is some lousy chaingun (like in 'Terminator 2') which isn't manportable in reality.

Because shotguns are cool. Especially pump action shotguns.
Plus there wouldn't have been much difference between a submachine gun and a chaingun in the original Doom, so it makes sense that they went for the beefy chaingun option instead of the less impressive submachine gun (disregarding any nonsensical ideas like manportability, c'mon this is Doom we're talking about here)
You do get other weapons like a submachine gun in Doom 3, but for close quarters (which alot of the game is) the shotgun is still king.

Yeah, if it becomes too realistic, it's kind of boring, like 'Delta Force' and OFP. I would say that the soundtrack of 'Doom' was quite good.

They should make games like 'Max Payne' and 'Hitman' into movies. 'Max Payne' film rights had been sold within the first year of release due to the incredible action. 'Hitman' might run into trouble of copyrights of films with similar titles, maybe they should name it '47' (after the main character).

If you want something Max Payne-ish, see Sin City (if you haven't already).

That movie doesn't feature bullet time like in the game, does it? It's just not 'Max Payne' without the bullet time effect.
