Title: Unisat

I've heard about this many, many times. What's in there? Where can I access it, and how?
Adolf Chiang - September 25, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
This page pretty much sums it up:
http://www.auckland.ac.nz/uoa/for/currents...y/unisatfaq.cfmI don't know how many students are devoted users of the service. I suppose free sat. TV would be one the few incentives for such high fees.

Adolf Chiang - September 29, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
I personally just want to watch BBC and maybe CCTV-4. There's only a few good channels on Sky TV and they are:
- History Channel
- BBC
- Discovery Channel
Hannoir - September 29, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
I want to watch the BBC too.
Has anyone seen a japanese game show called Takeshi's Castle? Its fucking hilarious.
SheDevil - September 29, 2005 10:10 PM (GMT)
My Cambell Live appearance was on there, so was the 20/20 thing with the Hambeast and the election coverage where Dan Bidois got caught out at the National Party Party.
It really is a fantastic thing, you can just sit there if you're bored shitless watching anything and everything!
SheDevil - October 3, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Ok, so turns out it isn't free! Our IT guy sent around an email to the exec and staff saying he had just recieved the bill for SatTv and it was huge! Ooops.
Sardonic - October 3, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
Well it is free... on the Uni system.

I used to watch "The Simpsons" all the time at work but I can't find them on it anymore. The hoes would always watch "Sex & The City".
Mr Lanky Bobs - October 3, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
we get told off at work for listening to the fucking radio through the net...but its the only way we pick up upfm...so we got our hands slapped every month...
DoubleD - October 9, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
Sardonic is right, it is free on the University netowrk so it doesnt chew up any NetLogin credit at all.
Unisat is a great service, unforutnately they're in a little strife a the moment where they can get the recorded rprogrammes up on the site, which is strange. Its been like this for a few wks. And the live streams page is full of phantom links.
But anyways, when its working properly Unisat is a very good service. Personally I would watch it in the Commons at times when the labs arent too busy - it just doesnt seem fair to be sitting there watching TV in the middle of the day while people are waiting to use a computer.
Steveo - October 9, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
Whats the link? How do I get it when im in the labs? What do I have to click on?
DoubleD - October 9, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
Hi Steveo,
its www.arts.auckland.ac.nz/unisat
Click on on-demand recordings for programmes, and click on live streams for live channels.

Cheers DoubleD! I'd been wondering where to get hold of it since I spoke with you about the service a while ago.
Now that's progressive.
