Adolf Chiang - September 23, 2005 11:12 AM (GMT)
You should check out some of that stuff in Wikipedia.
Fez - September 23, 2005 11:17 AM (GMT)
or you should find someone else as weirdly war obsessed as you.

cars: five of those really big tank things.
guns: one that shoot heaps of bullets really fast, like in Wolfenstein 3D.
bullets: shiny silver ones in case the enemy are vampires.
helicopters: like the Westpac ones, but better, and not red.
unicorns: many. invisible, with sharpened horns. corns.
armour: strong stuff which is camouflaged, because that stuffs really cool, and you can pretend to be a tree in it.
mortar: like that stuff dad used when he made the fence, but black. black is badass. im not too sure why we need this, maybe in case the enemy are scared of brick fences? :s
amphibious tanks: like crocodiles, but not green, and not scaly. oh and the people in them shouldnt be dead. or eaten.

100 of those mofos, 100 F-22s, and 100 of those 'shoot missiles out of the sky' planes that the states will have sometime in the next 10 years. A crapload of mobile flak/SAMs wouldn't hurt either.
Invincible!

I agree with a lot of these. Maniac covered a few but missed some important ones:
IFV: should this be IVF? Cause this could come in handy if continuous "hanging" with the army guys means you can no longer pleasure a woman the right way.
LAW: Yep, you can't lose if you have the LAW on your side
AAA: If your tank breaks down in a country starting with"A", you need these guys. They'll be there within 45 minutes. Fast...
SAMs: good. You want some JAMESes and HANKs too, to even things out.
Sidearm: x2
SAW: Fuck i heard about this movie. Apparently there is a dungeon and a saw and lost limbs and such. Scary. People said it was great; I don't believe them, though (just used a semi-colon, btw). Still, the Arabs are uncultured, and may enjoy it. Hang on, is that what we want? Maybe not. Better not show it to them, just in case
El Matador - September 23, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)

Senor - September 23, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
calicos are more machine pistols and as far as next gen go they are widly in accurate. better would be FN P90 or the tried and tested H&K MP5
Type 87? why? they say the the 5.8mm is more effective, but cmon there are much better choices. i know they are still in prototype and prolly only gonna be special forces but the OICW would be my pick, 5.56 highs and 20mm grenades with angle projection computer, distance programmed detonation. Or possibly HK G36.
Helicopter: AH1z
Sniper rifles: Barret light 50 is an amazing weapon, so that definately. but it massive calibre and the huge sound that goes with it is not wanted, i.e urban yes the AWM or AI L96
kiwi_hockey_guy - September 23, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
I'd take a tec-9............. and a desert eagle............
50 cent likes them so they gotta be cool (':shrugs:')

The way of the future for SMGs lies in the ability to fire as many rounds without depleting. The spiral magazine should be perfect for that. Accuracy can be solved by having a longer barrel.
The Type 87A is the best of both worlds. Built on a tried and true design of the Type 81 rifle (similar to the AKM), but with modern components like polymer and Al. alloys. This solves the M16 vs. AK debate for good. The designers have basically combined a U.S. design with Chinese/Russian durability.
The Type 87 never entered service in significant numbers (primarily in the hands of the Airbornes) due to the over-emphasis on the novelty of bullpups (which became another failed idea in general), but its tried and true layout (as opposed to the sometimes difficult bullpup) have given rise to the new Type 03 (still in prototype phase with only one publicized photo).

The Tigers or the RSA Rooivalks can pwn the AH-1 any day!
Damn! I forgot to mention the British L85 and L96, they're awesome. I also forgot about the G36. OICW is some expensive spec. ops item that normal infantrymen won't expect to see, it's also heavy. When it comes to urban sniping, the SVD is perfect since the high concentration of targets mean that semi-automatic beats the bolt when it comes to the rate of fire. The 4.5x (?) scope is very suitable for the urban environment as it's magnification power doesn't make the shooter look at only one view up close and forgetting that somebody else is taking aim at him. Anti-materiel rifles (.50 cal. and up) are very special forms of sniper rifles, it may have many hinderances, please note that they're deployed only when the mission dictates. One round of .50 BMG is enough to pierce the engine block of a truck and some light-skinned APC never stand the chance.
I also forgot to mention about MG-42s/MG-3s, those machineguns may be heavy in today's standards, but their ability to fire 1200 rds/min. is still unmatched.
