Sometimes I feel that, if the government owns certain competitive businesses (but not full planned economy) in a free market, the profits from these government firms can replace the citizens' tax dollars. It's just like the Chinese military owning a lot of businesses, it contributes to their upkeep, maintaining lower government budget for the military than some of China's neighbores.

As for Hitler's anti-Semitism, it largely stemmed from his following of two Viennese politicians who effectively exploited anti-Semitic attitudes of the time to promote a multitude of their claims. Being anti-Semitic gave them power to be simultaneously anti-Church, anti-communist and anti-capitalist, just whatever they need to oppose at the time for promoting their own policies. Hitler was a great admirer of Wagner (who's main hobby outside of composing was writing anti-Semitic essays) and the British-born Nordicist Chamberlain (a strong proponent of Aryan supremacy).

At the end of the day.... you can't really blame Hitler for hating Jews.

The Jews were ths scapegoats of Europe since the Middle Ages! They were blamed for carrying the plague. The sexual plague of Hitler's time was syphilus, and Mein Kampf was claimed that it was carried by Jews.

It's also partly out off Hitler's self-hate of suspicions of being part Jewish that he constantly received tests and treatment for syphilus, despite every test result coming back as negative. All of his physicians failed to convince him that he was free of the disease.

As for hating the Jews, it was something normal and acceptable in Europe.
