Title: Doing Away With 5c Pieces.......
Description: good idea or bad?
kiwi_hockey_guy - April 1, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
Well what do we all think? Having worked in a bank for the last 2 years i think it is a good idea from a practicality point of view, but not good in an economic point of view..... a bag of $100 in 5c pieces is heavy and a bastard to carry.......
liz_shaw - April 1, 2005 10:26 AM (GMT)
yeah I agree, I was having this convo with dad earlier, its good on the pocket but its not good because of the inflationary repurcussions.
kiwi_hockey_guy - April 1, 2005 10:30 AM (GMT)
im trying to think of what countrys i have travelled to that have nothing smaller than a 10c piece..... none i can recall......... even bulgaria has 5c pieces..... euros are in 1 and 2c pieces also.....
liz_shaw - April 1, 2005 10:34 AM (GMT)
The States don't hve a 10 cent coin.
I reckon the 10 cent coin will eventually go too.
kiwi_hockey_guy - April 1, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
but they have pennys, a nickel is 10c i think
Fez - April 1, 2005 10:47 AM (GMT)
Yeah 5c coins are a bitch
Could be worse tho, I despised Pennys with hatred equal to none other while I was in Canada
I even wrote an essay about it in English, my teacher just laughed and read it out to the class
I called them "Copper coated instruments of the devil"
kiwi_hockey_guy - April 1, 2005 10:50 AM (GMT)
its true, when i have been to countrys like canada or ones using euro my wallet is bulging with these tools of the devil!
liz_shaw - April 1, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't call them the tools of the devil but they are annoying.
I miss when there were one and two dollar notes.

God that was before my time........ came across a few while was working in the bank........ i was in disbelief for a while
liz_shaw - April 1, 2005 11:04 AM (GMT)
I was about 7 when they were turned into coins. So that would have been 1993.
kiwi_hockey_guy - April 1, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
ohhh well i was around then but i cant recall them........ no need for money when u r 6 i suppose
liz_shaw - April 1, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
As an arts student I am the opposite of materialistic but there is always reason for money, even at 6. There are things to buy like toys such as marbles, man I miss playing marbles at primary.
