Sardonic - September 15, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
So how was it for you?
*tries to blank images of Nuremberg from his minds eye*

I couldnt see shit.
Me, Hamish and Mr Von Cock wandered round trying to find a good spot, eventually I wondered down to the quad and stood on the grass as the esteemed one arrived.
I left after about 15 mins of her speech because the dicks with the "No matter who wins we still get a man prime minister" sign were being annoying.
Did anything funny happen? I expected Young Nat vs Labour punchups.

Nope. The 5 National people were easily drowned out by the red horde. One the 4 feared attendees, 3 appeared and all 3 behaved.
Much banner waving and chanting was done by all and ears are still ringing
And the PM walked within 3 feet of NPK and he did nothing. But I guy he's scared of being shot
Fez - September 15, 2005 01:44 AM (GMT)
yea I saw NPK too, funny, I thought he had a restraing order that disallowed him from being on university grounds?

His trespass order expired a few months ago. As did Blairs
Chris Prudence is still trespassed. He is the one that didnt appear
hotshotec - September 15, 2005 05:53 AM (GMT)
i was there...just behind the noisy poster holder.
quite noisy :P
There was a semi punchup..there was this national person standing up and holding a sign and next to her there was this labour person holding up her sign. The next thing i knew both girls were flying down fighting with the sign. Would have been a full on fight if another person hadn't quickly stepped in and stopped it.
Next thing i see is this guy with an ear thingy in his ear walking up to the national girl warning her or something..looked like some plainclothes police...
Brash pinata and Helen Clarks devil was funniest props
SheDevil - September 15, 2005 06:16 AM (GMT)

the oob - September 15, 2005 06:38 AM (GMT)
I'm going to vote National so I can laugh at people who stayed at uni too long only to find they had a massive debt at the end of it. Oh the humanity! :oob::oob::oob:

That's how babies are made! I can just imagine...
Flying Spaghetti Monster: "You know, I really hate babies. Let's make this whole 'making babies' thing as disgusting as possible to discourage these useless flesh creatures from mating."
Hauser - September 15, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
man, that sounds traumatising, maniacnymph, in fact I don't really want to have a mental image of that ostrichlove. Did you see the meerkats or otters? They both kick arse and don't do dodgy stuff like that :).
The crowds at the Labour thing on TV looked hardout energised, there seemed to be a shitload of happy people!
Dr_Steve - September 15, 2005 07:28 AM (GMT)
otters smell like pooooze
Adolf Chiang - September 15, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
I didn't actually go to the damn thing in person, but from what I've seen on the evening news, it was nothing more than a witch's sabbath of red.

I wonder what drugs they were on.
Hauser - September 15, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
The drug that is daily existence inside a consumerist western democracy, Adolf.
DID I HEAR A REFERENCE TO BLACK SABBATH IN YOUR POST?
*rock*

I used the sabbath idea to describe my profound dislike of Helen Clark and also paraphrasing how a U.S. reporter described the wave of Brownshirts rushing down the streets of Vienna, during the 1938 Aunschluss as a "witch's sabbath of brown, chanting "heil Hitler" and "heil Seyss-Inquart".

I am exercising my treaty given right to hate foreign people.
You are not recognised as either of the official cultures of New Zealand you know.
Adolf Chiang - September 15, 2005 10:01 AM (GMT)
Neither is Middle Eastern culture being recognised. A culture may not be official, but it's certainly not illegal.

I think that's a matter of decision based on adequate historical grounds and sufficient numbers.
Happy Ahmed - September 15, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
I don't know anyone who is killing middle eastern people.

Culture is suppose to be the glue of identity that bonds a nation's people together. It should form the basis of patriotism.

We don't have culture in this country, we have to make do with beer and rugby.

Don't forget the haka and many things of Kiwiana.
Happy Ahmed - September 15, 2005 10:28 AM (GMT)
There are many elements of new zealand culture which people fail to appreciate but rather than articulate what these are I would rather sit back and sneer at your astounding ignorance.
Hannoir - September 15, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
I was lucky enough to see Helen today. I was pretty close to the front, standing on a table, but cos of the banners it was hard to see her.
Anyway, so near me there was this kid, I'm guessing he was a first year as well, he looked young. He had made a sign and it said "Lies and Labour" (something like that) and had made it out of labour leaflets so it looked like a labour sign unless you could read it close up. He was conveniently positioned at the labour stall (in front of it) so there were lots of labour students round. Of course, he was booing everything and shouting stuff and whatnot but due to being surrounded by labour students he was being pretty caned and could not keep up his "tax cuts are great" arguments when they were bashing his sign/hiding it and all that.
What amused me was he was dressed how shall i say it, i guess alternative is the best word. what i would have called grunge when i was about 15. badges everywhere, studded wristbands. I bet he wails about hard life is and all that. The irony screamed out at me.
I hope labour win for three reasons:
1. they make sense
2. i may want to emigrate here and under national it could be a little fucked up
3. Iraq. being british i know people my own age who have been there and well i dont think old don would be sending troops out if he had heard the stuff that goes around friendship groups and all that.
But I know nothing about New Zealand and can't vote so it doesnt matter.
Giraffes are cool. Can I be a giraffe with you?
maniacnymph - September 15, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
you sure can buddy. btw, do you have glasses with red frames, or have i been saying hi to a complete stranger. coz that would sure explain the multitude of weird looks.....
Hannoir - September 15, 2005 11:21 AM (GMT)
maniacnymph - September 15, 2005 11:41 AM (GMT)
brownish red???! coz ive been so sure its been you!
Hannoir - September 15, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
brownish red i guess!
if ive not said hi back its cos im crap at recognising people and am normally in my own little world!
maniacnymph - September 15, 2005 11:46 AM (GMT)
