Title: A1
Description: will it be good?

Boy Wonder - September 4, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
I like the idea of countries competing against each other. I especially like this quote by one of the NZ drivers:

"A1 makes the cars the same and lets the champions be found by driving, not chequebooks".

There's going to be some pretty huge discrepencies...The dutch have the Boss driving for them...ex-f1, ex-endurance, ex-pretty much every series under the sun....

Interesting though. I dislike one-make racing because it's so fucking painful to watch (I'm a stickler for development and innovation and there'll be dick all of that in A1).

I mean come on, think about the Brabham Fan Car, the Lotus 79 and the Tyrell P34...you'll never see anything like that in A1

Having said that, I'll watch anything...porno, motorsport, rugby...so I'll be there none the less. I might even like it.

But then with F1 which is different manufacturers and its boring as hell to watch....... too many rules etc......

El Matador - September 5, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
I agree. There's no room for the innovation of the 60's, 70's and 80's (thousand horsepower F1 cars). The closest that anyone came recently to a new design idea were the BAR rear wing that was disallowed and the McLaren individual rear wheel braking system, which was banned.

Haha, imagine the WRC with F1s along muddy, windy tracks ! :D

I wonder if Karamjit Singh is going to do A1... he kicks arse.

El Matador - September 5, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
Karamjit Singh! It's just not the same if he isn't driving a Mitsi clone.

El Matador - September 21, 2005 07:08 AM (GMT)
I'm bumping this because A1 starts this weekend....

Boy Wonder - September 22, 2005 04:43 AM (GMT)
my money is on NZ

El Matador - September 24, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
Also looking for an NZ win, but realistically expecting the Dutch to take it out...they have Jos the Boss for christs sake. He's unstoppable.

For anyone interested, race one (sprint race) is at midnight sunday and the longer race is at 2 AM monday morning. Check it out!!!111!!!one!!1
