Did you guys see the new haka??!!
Holy shit it gave me goosebumps!
Happy Ahmed - August 27, 2005 11:13 AM (GMT)
It was fucking rad. It's far more intense and less cliched than the old one.
Wicked.
Fez - August 27, 2005 11:18 AM (GMT)
yeah man, and then we fucking owned them! well not owned exactly, but still won.
Take that Burgerlips!
samf - August 27, 2005 11:27 AM (GMT)
I don't mind a good close match... real drubbings are a lot of fun however!
Boy Wonder - August 28, 2005 09:21 AM (GMT)
Tana was going skitz when doing the new haka, it was awesome.
Now that they have two hakas it would be cool if they did them both at the same time but in reverse.
templar34 - August 28, 2005 12:10 PM (GMT)
Fuckload more intimidating and martial. Good.
Hauser - August 29, 2005 12:37 AM (GMT)
Remember, the throat slitting gesture symbolises the 'cutting edge' of the sport, and is not to be interpreted as any form of intimidation to the other team.
Fez - August 29, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
hahahaha, I want to find some screenshots of that game, there were some classic ones.
like Weepus "throat slitting" during the haka, fuck he was really getting into it.
Burgers "burger lips"

And when blood was pissing from his face.
Quality.

I thought there would be more outcry from the older generations about abandoning the roots of the haka.
But yeah, good to see the All Blacks on top of their game and performing well at all levels.

The new haka was awesome! I felt a greater sense of pride supporting the ABs. I wonder if it's alright for them to perform both hakas in the furture.
samf - September 16, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
You mean both at the same game? Doubt it... The new haka is for special occasions only, and the old one will remain the rest of the time.

What I mean was, old haka, followed by the new one. What makes a special occassion? They didn't perform it at the Tri-Nations final.

Like I said, nope. I get the impression that our competitors resent just the one haka enough as it is.
And special occasions do seem a fairly subjective call - perhaps they didn't want two performances in a row, and left it out at the final for that reason.

I don't know which had the better psychological effect, new haka at the final or the match prior to the final?
I'm not a really a rugby fan, but it makes me wonder, are the current All Blacks stronger than the team of the 1990s? What's Fitzpatrick doing for a living these days?
samf - September 16, 2005 11:19 AM (GMT)
Rattle them early for the win.
I'm not a rugby expert either, but I think the game's changed enough in that time that there's not much point comparing.
