Compsci 372: Computer graphics
Kind of fun, but the assignments are fairly difficult (as you would expect for a 3rd year compsci paper) and it has some fairly serious calculus. Remember that shit you did in 7th form calc and thought "man, I'll never use that shit"? You'll use that shit.
* Compsci 210, until it starts covering assembly code which no one in their right mind uses |
1) Unless you were doing a physics simulation or something, there's no calculus in 372 to my recollection (although I haven't exactly taken it or anything).
2) there's
this dude (probably not in his right mind though, he uses
BIG RED CAPITAL LETTERS in his blurbs)
Phil101 - A+ Was kicking myself at first for taking this paper. Numbers? Translations? Algebra like equations? I failed maths! However, I was pleasently surprised after acing both my first and second test, and by somehow acing the last test as well even though I didn't understand half of it and was making shit up. Apparently it was correct shit. Jeremy was an awesome lecturer. Very helpful and dedicated his afternoon to a whole group of us before the exam to help us through stuff. The other lady was shit. I don't even remember her name. Unenthusiastic and she needs to learn how to speak up so people can hear. And not to go over the same thing 50 million times. People ended up not going to her lectures in the end
Hist140 B- - Europe in the times of Kings and Queens. Had a couple of interesting things in it but didn't focus on the good stuff. It was very broad and very factual and very political. i wanted goos on the Kings and Queens but noooooo. Lindsey was fab. Awesome powerpoints and he spoke off the top of his head. Judith was not so good. Although she had some amusing anecdotes she bored us stiff most of the time, read off a sheet of paper, and never stuck to the course outline. And then seh had the ability to ramble about nothign at all and just when you were falling to sleep she'd switch to something important and you'd miss it. Not to mention using huge words no onehad ever heard of
Hist 102 - B Sexual Histories. Very amusing paper. Completely enjoyed this one. Essays were not too bad to write, and it has great material for party conversation :)
Educ112 - B Current issues in Education This was so-so. 4 different lectureres. Some were better than others. Topics covered seemed very weird. Like writing an essay about financial aid in the pacific when we are supposed to be learning about educational issues?
CompSci 210 - B
Not as bad as it first seems. I had Bruce Hutton for the entire course :( UNIX was simple enough once you understood it, Assembly was fucking hard until you grasped it (Learning C helps SO much). And I went to maybe 2 of the last third of the course, which looks at Operating Systems...
TBC, I gotta go. Back in 4 days.
